New upcoming CTS-V to have 550HP/550lbft tq

This has gotten funny...The car does look nicer than the previous version of it and interior is nice, but still not me reminds me of my grandfather's kind of car...caddy, buick...
couple things:
1. if it is true that it has cast pistons don't plan on adding much hp, unless you plan on putting in forged ones. There is a reason why the new ZR1 has forged pistons in it. Frankly, I can't believe they are putting out a supercharged car with that much hp and cast pistons, it must run low boost like 5-6psi.
2. Secondly, who knows how big the back wheel openings are the car is going to need 305 or bigger tires to hook good.
3. It's a Caddy = old man's car.
4. Maybe the Chevy dealer from Ohio can answer this, does GM still use shims to get their body panels to line up correctly? LMAO...
5. The motor and trans are tough, but it's all the other junk on the GMs that break and drive you nuts.
Here is a clip of a CTS-V with only 12k miles on it(and he happens to be one of the Streetfire employees)...hmmm

since when has Mercedes been considered a young mans car? Caddys have come a LONG way since your its been a "grandfathers" car.

Depends, do you drive the pope-mobile mercedes? Would you spend the money for it? I think not, because it doesn't represent that which you want. Some mercedes are marketed for that many are not, but caddies up until the last few years have been strictly marketed to old-farts. Just like kipper215 said, "but I am this not old enough to own a caddy." Each to his own, but my generation (X) isn't ready for no caddy or HD Roadking motorcycle, maybe in 20-30 years.
On the flatout performance front, just buy a ZX14 or 1000cc bike if you just want performance vs. money as the factor. Nothing can touch it.

has a nicer interior than the z06 and the zr1. i thought that i read it has a smaller super charger with less boost than the one in the zr1. still a caddy or a mb55. i'll stick with my e55...
Wanted a vette since i saw my first split window as a kid. adding a z06 to my family this weekend.

Wow the car looks pretty darn nice inside and out. With 550/550 and 4200 lbs it should be a pretty darn fast sedan indeed and hopefully it will be put together just as good as it looks. I just would have a hard time owning a "Caddy" however...albeit even one with 550 hp.

Seriously, I just want a baller luxo car with boost...this seems to be the only new one available on the market.
I'm happy I'm on the list at the Caddy dealership as now I have plenty of options.

Lemon Cadilac FIXED!
Hey Guys,
The problem with the streetfire video guy's car was eventually fixed. If you watch the video closely it is super obvious what the problem was and why the dealer couldn't fix it the first three tries. The owner dropped the car off at night utilizing their night drop box therefore the technician didn't realize it was the size of the owners ears that was creating a wind vortex that messed up the readings to the Mass Air Sensor.

A cadillac that sounds, looks and does this is always a winner in my book, not to mention the new one is 10 times the car

So bring your CTSV's, Z06 and lets run'em!
P.S.-if you think launching a '07 Z06 is difficult, what do U think is going to happen with the ZR1?

Comment to the GM dealer (David), too. Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like an unbiased opinion. The exterior of the new CTS-V (and old one for that matter) looks awesome. The interior is more than intersting. Do I see leather stitching on the dash? WOW! LOOKS NICE, LOOKS REAL NICE!
Can't wait to see these and in person. Again, the E will beat it throught the sprints...

Pretty much how I feel also. I'll need to see one up close and test drive it to come close to changing my mind.

Ohio E55 hit the nail on the head-it's 1970 all over again. In ten years we will all be driving smart cars.GM already scrapped their 300 mil DOHC V8 program targeted for the Cad line-it will be powered instead by a V6(sound familiar?)CAFE standards will castrate the whole lot.
My E63 repalced my LS6V,to the person who said they don't handle you've never driven one because you wouldn't have made that statement.Excellent balance, superb braking, and yeah the shifter was like a stick in a bowl of oatmeal what do you want for 50k new?.
Bottom line enjoy it while it lasts fellers,in short time you will be wistfully remembering this thread!

I'm sorry! U R right though! I don't know what it is! I just don't like the history of american cars when it comes to reliability, quality, resale value and in most not all...appearance. They just don't do it for me, and it seems like their R & D groups have very small circles.

anyone have any ideas about the pricing on this new cts-v? it is one gorgeous car. i've been thinking about selling the sl 500 for an off-lease xlr-v in a year or two (i love the look of those things; like i said, it boils down to personal taste), but this sedan sure is intriguing.

i surrendered a ******** after trying for months to get a decent bit of coin for my e55. what planet are you trading off AMG's on? V-series might resell lower, but they first-sell lower too; over all, i don't know whether there's as much of a difference as you'd like to believe.
for instance, i was at keyes MB in van nuys yesterday getting my silver arrow serviced, and they've got an '05 sl 55 AMG with some nice premium features and reasonable miles on it going for $49k on the window. that car was at least $125k two years ago!!!
personally, i think the V-series thing is a serious effort by GM, and with Lutz on board the second generation cars are going to take all the lessons learned in the first-gen and improve accordingly. the non-V cadillacs are pretty shabby in the interior (save for the new cts), but even those have as their saving grace the new center console and steering wheel switch panel design, which is quite elegant and easily on par or beyond what merc is currently offering in their bread and butter cars. still, without the french-seamed leather dash of the V-series, the "rubberesque" dash of the STS and DTS are pretty depressingly cheap and very reminiscent of my 05 E55's rubberesque dash. that 3/4" strip of black wood and chrome was nice, but i expected more on the topside of the dash for my $92k.
ymmv.
