Forgot to unplug the SBC prior to installation...
I followed this procedure last night with the exception of forgetting to unplug the SBC prior to starting. After it was all buttoned up we started the car and it threw two P0500 codes (speed sensors), ESP Malfunction, and ABS Malfunction.
Can anyone advise how to clear these codes or what I might have done wrong to get these fault codes?

This is an amazing thread.
I followed this thread and did a quaife install with the info here...
Just an update or one very important piece of info missed.
The left and right c clips are different size DO NOT MIX THEM UP...
YOUR DIFF WILL WHINE ON DECELERATION ....
I learned the hard way.

So since no one here was able to confirm or deny part numbers, it took a little effort on my part to source the proper bearings as my local Benz dealer nor my Benz part supplier were able to assist me. The latter realy surprised me as they are usually quite good at it.
The tapered roller bearings you will need on each end of the differential are not the same part number or size.
They are made by a company called Timken. The part number for an 05 e55 are NP120839 and NP335170. Your experience may differ, but I the only place I was able to get them from was 123Bearing.com out of France. I was unable to find a us supplier for their automotive bearings, but these guys did come through without breaking the bank.
Hope this helps somebody else.

How much time should I expect an indy shop to spend on this. This is my next project and don't want to get screwed.
Thanks guys!!

I'm getting ready to do this install on my car and the side bearings have me confused. There doesn't appear to be any way to set the side bearing preload. In fact, with the snap-rings holding in the bearing races, it would appear that the preload is essentially zero, unless you use a case spreader while installing the snap-rings.
Do any of these units have shims from the factory? I just ordered a bunch of "thrust washers" from MB (pn 230-353-05-62 and others) but I don't see where they would go.
What gives?

As far as I can tell, the only difference is that the Wavetrac may have a slightly thicker ring gear flange which requires you to grind on the case a little so you can get it in. Both units are adjusted using the same snap rings on the bearings.

where can you get the various thickness snap rings to adjust everything? My shop has mine apart and the unit is needing adjustment

I'm in the middle of tackling this project and would like to change all bearings since I'm in there. 306 gearing and Wavetrac. Does anyone know a US supplier and part #'s for all 3 bearings?

You can also buy them from Mercedes, but you will need to find a precision grinder to grind them to the thickness you need. If you are lucky you may be able to hand-sand your old ones like I did here: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...lsd-setup.html

No, but I got new side bearings from 123bearing.com. They are in France, but I ordered via their website and the cost wasn't too bad and shipping time was reasonable too. The part numbers I ordered were: NP604623-NP335170-TIMKEN and NP957403-NP120839-TIMKEN (according to my invoice)

If no love from Wavetrac, Tracy from OEDiscountParts.com can help.
I was going through similar motions with my own LSD upgrade for a C63 W204 and thought I would need an assortment of C-Clips just in case.
Below is a list of varying thickness C-Clips for an E-Class after cross referencing Diff Bearings which seem to be the same across many models (C63, C55, SL55, SL500, etc). I am told these C-Clips are only available in Germany, with a lead time of 1 week for US delivery.
Hope this helps.
