Any update on cams?

Does anyone have any dyno's/track results for pre and post cams. Whether they are Kleeman, VRP, Evotech, or whatever. I cant find any info on these cams and have no idea which ones to get :nix: I know there are people with them installed, why doesnt anyone post results?

Why? Arent they SLR clones?

chiromikey 02-05-2008 02:01 PM

i've posted dyno and 1/4mile results for all my mods. overall the slr cams are worth about 15-20rwhp and a tenth in the 1/4mile.

I have the VRP cams installed and I lost 10 HP. we belive it needs tuning to get them right. Victor has made a offer for me to get it tuned so I will have info on them very soon. I will also post up good or bad like always.

Here, maybe: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/190068-verdict-cams.html

E55 RUSS 02-06-2008 04:03 PM

What I am curious about...IS IF Chirimikey SLR Cams made 15-20 RWHP...and Rflow had simular SLR Cams as well...Then he installed VRP Cams and made extra 30 RWHP...so does it means that car VRP Cams over stock Cams will make around 40-50RWHP ???

Havoc 02-06-2008 04:09 PM

VRP cams provide 30rwhp (@ peak) and 40rwtq (@ 4,000RPM). Power increase starts right at 2,600RPM all the way to redline.

yes, that was the first post dyno attempt. we were able to re-dyno without as much traction and heatsoak issues and it ran 492rwhp. that equaled 17rwhp on the dyno dynamics machine so you can likely add a few more hp to a dynojet.

Where is a overlayed dyno for this (pre/post cams)?

I'm not sure. I remember reading some info on the VRP cams from a couple of guys that did test them. I'll let you know if I find it.

No...........

Man.. I can't believe how many times I've had to post a link to this dyno...

So green is "stock" pull and blue is VRP cams pull. Whats the red? Because the VRP cams only made a few ponies if that more than the red pull.

How do you explain people reporting losing power from the cams? :nix:

E55 RUSS 02-13-2008 10:42 AM

How many people reported loosing power with VRP Cams ???

ROCKETW19 02-13-2008 01:02 PM

I had lost power! But after Vadim got the car he got all my power back and probably more. the reason I say probably is cuzz he has my car on the dyno some time today and its unknown right now. but will have updates tonight!

vrus 02-13-2008 01:16 PM

Ok.. let's get the facts straight a bit here..

- 11 sets of cams are out there right now.

- Only 1 set has been installed where the installer/owner reported a loss of power on the dyno and that was Rocket's car. The thing with Rocket's car is that there are a bunch of variables at play there. Once you see the new dyno graphs from Rocket's car it wont be an issue anymore. I dont want to get into the details, but the main thing is his car was the only one with an Evotech flash and the only one that lost power on the dyno.

All the other cars the cams were installed on were Kleemann cars + VRP ECU cars.

- All others are installed, more power has been shown, and everyone is happy.

With Albert's car.. I cant remember what he was running on the Red pull.. I think he was testing some other parts + ice in reservoir.. you have to ask him.. I was only concerned with Stock vs our Cams.

Let wait for Rocket results...I think his ECU was too lean on TOP...

yes should have anwser tonight.
my car was a bit lean on bottom and rich up top. Vadim will have it pretty close to perfect when hes done.
there is still some missing HP but I belive they are on the right track.

I fit was lean up top it would make more power, I believe it was rich up top.

So if we get VRP cams we have to get VRP ECU?

NOPE NOPE!!! :eek:That's not necessarily tru. You can run too lean and lose power if the car is running WOT. My car was a perfect ex of that when I used the Kleemann cams without having the SW done. Yes you can also lose pwr if your car is running too rich up top.

As the rpm's go up at WOT you want the car to run richer for power, and reliability. Ignition timing also comes into play here. Basically you have to look at the whole A/F ratio curve, whp, timing, rpm's,and listen of watch for knock when you r tuning but the trend is for the car to run richer as the rpm's climb at W.O.T.:y

And yes Ahmad I would get the VRP ECU if you use their cams.
