Does anyone ever drive in "dyno mode"
If I am correct dyno mode disables all trac/stab management...? so this means you could really drift are in your E. Does anyone do it? pros cons?

You can drift your tires off just with ESP off. The computer kicks in when you hit the brakes.
In dyno mode, you are 100% on your own.
I was showing of my E63 once and had ESP off, then took a hard turn under power. The rear end hung out very nicely and I almost ***** my pants. The passenger thought it was great. Aaaah, old reflexes not often used, but still there.

I drive my CLK500 in dyno mode when I'm only doing low speed "stoplight" runs or when I feel like putting on a smokeshow.
In my dad's SL55, I would use dyno mode on occassion. Lots of fun. The thing drifts beautifully. But ESP off isn't half bad either.
The only thing that scares me about dyno mode is the lack of ABS and the SRS lights.

You'd have to be CRAZY to drive an E55 in dyno mode! At least drive it more than at super slow speeds in a semi-controlled setting. With all that torque and no ABS, it is a baaaad way to drive. Maybe fun to head to a huge empty parking lot and shred some tires, to be sure. But the car makes too much power at low RPM to be controlled. I drove half way to work (12 miles) in dyno mode the first time and was TERRIFIED. Pulled off the fwy and got it out of dyno mode pretty quickly.
Makes you realize that this level of power would have been VERY difficult to put in a drivable car 20 years ago or so. The ability to limit the power (ABS, traction control, etc) comes hand in hand with 500 lb-ft. of torque just off idle
Seriously, don't try anything stupid in dyno mode. For exhibition use with extreme care only, I wouldn't drive down the hill from my house in dyno mode after last time. Fun but clearly not for public highway use.

No damage except from trees/lamp posts. The process is outlined on the forum. I have never done it on the E55 but on other models I seem to remember it is a combination of steering wheel button pushing. I see no reason to do this except for running a dyno obviously.

I don't have traction control in my E55. Semi slicks + clutched diff and it drives fine. Rear end steps out occasionally but I just lift off a little and correct it, no drama.

Yeah if yiu dont have limited slip diff this bad idea. My god when i think back to pre wavetrac in my car and how the *** end would bounce from side to side and feel loose AF. Now its tight id do it if the srs system stayed on. Dont want to stupudly kill myself just for some skid fun...
Only time I use it is at the track with slicks on :-P key in position 2 but cat off double click the Odom reset button with MPH selected on the dash. Navigate to something called like circuit 65 or some such. It will be off, change it to dynameter mode, start car. It will stay in this mode until you access the menu and change it back to off, even if you turn car off/on.

I was told brakes don’t react the same, so if you use it at the track for 1/4 mile don’t jam on the brakes at the end lol,no ABS and proportioning may or may not be the same !!!
I've used it at the track a lot, never noticed a difference. Maybe only if you wait to the end of the strip and try to test your 100-0 time or something haha.

The search function puts up many many unrelated posts or threads when I search for "setting dyno mode". I gave up. Why can't the answer be posted on this thread which is the ONLY thread which mentions "dyno mode" in the thread starter? Why answer a query with "do a search" if you know the answer?
