Do you let your friends drive/borrow your 55/63
As much as I love my friends and respect them, i dont let any one drive my car. My insurance is already sky high and I cant take any chances. When I first got my E63 every one wanted to take it for a spin. I only let one of my close friends drive it with my self in the passenger seat.. My girl friend asked to take the car out with her girl friends one night. I seriously started to

I don't let anyone borrow my cars due to liability issues. I let very few people drive my cars as I don't want them damaged. The only exceptions are close friends who are skilled drivers and have deep enough pockets to deal with a mistake.
I got lucky in the wife department so there is no issue handing her the keys to even the most exotic of machinery. Not to mention that she has been known to turn faster lap times on the racetrack in the same car.

A little "put your money where your mouth is" challenge followed by......silence. Still no pics, no nothing. I called him out in a previous thread and not even a peep. Faker. I think this brings my tally up to 4 or 5 people outed.

Back to the OP's question. I have let a few close friends that had the money drive the car...one by himself and one with me in it. Have driven plenty of people in the car to show them what it will do.

Agree on the >>>"I'll get another one"<<< But how do you get around the liability? God forbid one of your friends hurts or kills someone that insurance money goes in a flash. You as the owner are on the hook too you can be sued. The risk you are taking is huge.

Let's let the rabbit come out of its hole so we can lay the shotgun blast of ownage on it. He says he's from your neck of the woods, why not have a friendly meet and greet with him Bobby? Maybe we can get Amber to pose next to his Schwinn.

The risk is there no doubt. But, if something does happen that my insurance cannot cover, including umbrellas, we will sort it out. Life is too short to worry to much about what may happen, I will just deal with it when it does.

I've let a few of my buds drive my car. They know how much i take care of it, so they do the same. My wife hates driving my car, but she does drive it sometimes. No biggie.

Here in my state the insurance follows the driver...so if someone else wrecked it it would go against their insurance. That being said, who wants to deal with the hassle and depreciation from that.

Most insurance contracts preclude you from suing your own company for depreciation in value once they elect to fix the vehicle instead of totaling it out. But if someone else it at fault, then their insurance carrier is liable and you can force them to not only fix your car but can also recover for depreciation, since you signed no contract related to the other driver's policy that would prevent you from doing so.
As to loaning people my car, that's rare. I will let them take it for a ride with me in the passenger seat, but I never just hand the keys off unless it's family or something like that.
The truth is, people just don't take nearly as much care with your property as they do with their own, and it's just easier to avoid squabbling over the scratches and door dings that will inevitably happen. Plus, then you get into the "It's just a scratch...I don't think it's that bad" vs. "Well it wasn't there before and it bothers ME, so pony up the $400 to fix it" argument. Just not worth it, in my opinion.
Oh ya...ETA: I don't have an E55/63, though I do have some other 'decent' stuff sitting around. Just read the title of the thread, and didn't want anyone to think I was a poser...

i only do if they have the means to pay for it if something happens. so if theyre broke friends, not a chance.
and if its a chick or someone i deem will not respect the car or be dangerous with that much power, its a NOGO

I let most of my very close friends drive it. Yes, we're all very close (should've been family ) Not only I let them drive my car, we each have a key to eacher's cars and houses. If an emergency happens or somebody's car brakes down, they tow it to the nearest dealer, then come pick somebody elses's car from their work place or home to get by and then they return it when the emergency is over. Also, since they know how picky I am with my car, they treat my E63 differently: they drive it with the utmost care, park it far away, put certain gas in it if they need to, etc....
