My E63 in its first snow
Finally, on 12 February, the first winter storm of any consequence and accumulation has arrived in the NY Tri-State area and I finally had a chance to drive the E63 with the Dunlop Winter Sport M3s in a few inches of snow and I must say that I came away pretty impressed by the tractability of both the tire and the car.
Driving in "C" mode so that it starts in 2nd gear, I had minimal wheel slip and it drove well on my street that had not yet been plowed.
I thought I'd miss the Quattro on my A8L but so far, the E63 is proving to be a fine daily driver even in adverse weather conditions.

I'm with you... drove mine from NH to NYC in a snowstorm and back again, no problems, Dunlop Sport 3Ds, which are very similar. And if I were to ever go over 100, they feel fine there too. Not that I would ever do that.

Had the Dunlop sport on my 545i, great tire. However, got caught at work yesterday while it snowed and have original Conti's on ( though they are a new set, had the rears done 2 weeks ago). Had to go slow but made it home OK. Guess the 4,500+lbs of car comes in handy in the snow.

I dont know, but I got caught in that snow mess and almost did not make it. It was so bad, so much sleet and ice on the roads that the car could not even stop going at 2MPH. It was scary guys. It took me almost 2 hours (15 miles from work) to get home and I was happy I did not hit anything.

I had to take my car to have some work done yesterday and it went later than I thought it would. I also got stuck driving home in that and it was NOT GOOD!!

Albert, the original poster has winter tires on his car - i'm guessing you have the stock (summer tires). Summer tires are NO GOOD in that slop LOL!

I could never justify getting winter tires when it does not really snow that much in NY. I mean this is the first real snow we've had so far this winter.
Maybe I should rethink that

Does the Escalade have all seasons standard? My wife just ordered an X5 4.8i and it comes with all seasons, which the dealer swears will be fine for our winters - I'm sticking to my policy of winter tires for all our daily drivers, taking a chance in even one storm isn't worth it in terms of the wellbeing of my family. Interestingly the LX470 we current have has M&S rated truck tires - and they've been awesome even when we got nailed with that 27" record snowfall two years ago.
As for being out there, I was coming home from work after getting off NJ Transit - wouldn't want to go out for a spin (literally or figuratively) in that condition without a good reason!

I had a similar situation in the Seattle area a few weeks ago. A couple of days after I got my E63. Luckily I had Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2s. The car carved right through snow, and ice with no problem. And I live in a hilly area, that I had no problems maneuvering in.
Traction control, and ABS did not even get activated - except the time I went around a corner, with no cars or people around, pretty fast - just to see what the car's limit was. No problems - whatsoever.
