E55 then E63, now back to an E55
I don't care about the HP but want slightly louder sound. Heard the resonator delete causes cabin drone (which I definately DO NOT want). What should I do that is fairly inexpensive and easy? Thanks......

Honestly, I can't imagine anyone getting cabin drone from the resonator delete. Go to a good exhaust shop, leave the secondary cats in place and just have a pair of straight pipes put in place of the resonator. If you don't like it, you can have it reversed easily.

I have removed the resonator in every AMG that I have owned and not been disappointed.

Actually, deleting the resonator cured a 72 mph drone I was getting from the stock exhaust. It's not the cheapest way to go, but I used Evo's resonator delete setup and am very happy with it. Just a little more noise, zero smog issues, and no effing drone in the cabin at freeway speeds.

Isn't the resonator delete kit just 2 2.75" straight pipes??? Can't the muffler shop just do this or is there something special about the kit from Evo? Just curious, thanks...

Because they can. Am sure it is also stainless steel.

I mean, I'm not trying to put anyone down and if it's worth it, I'll spend the money! I'm just trying to make sense of this. Thanks for the info!

most muffler shops have this material handy...

stainless steel and you can coat with anything else you want to make it looks even nicer.

$70 per piece is probably about right.. if you go to a low end neighborhood is probably $35 per piece.

its only a pipe and welding people.. nothing more than that.

If you have a leak.. then bring it back and they will fix it.

After deleting the res and 2nd cats, I have only had drone once, and that was during a long road trip where I was averaging well over 100 for several hours. The sound became unbearable when cruising at 95, but the car has never done this since. The sound gets deeper and louder after the car warms up, so I'm guessing that I just got things too hot for too long to create the drone.

To me, the sound that you get is really ideal. My wife was in the car for about 20 minutes after I had this done and she never noticed a difference until I got on the gas pretty good. The sound is just a little deeper than stock until you step on it.

Sorry if I'm duplicating my questions but I didn't receive an answer from anyone. Will deleting the secondary cats have any affect on emissions and smog??? CA emissions are really strict and wondering if anyone has the answer. Thanks!

Deleting the cats is not legal for Ca. Whether or not your local smog place notices is another matter. You will pass the tail pipe test, but fail the visual if they notice. Neither that or the resonator delete will give much power on a W211. As for the Evo resonator kit, it was $159.00 when I bought it while having other mods done. It is stainless and very high quality. Is it over priced? Probably, although the install looks as if it came that way from the factory, unlike the pics you see of these other cars (nothing against the $79.00 exhaust work).

THANK YOU! That's what I was asking for. I have people at Smog and Test Only Center so not worried about visual as long as emissions wise it will pass in the computer. Even if not getting much more if any HP just removing them will get rid of some weight and make the car sound a little more aggressive. $159 is not bad since the pipes are SS. Thanks again...
