'04 Silverado Z71 - sold all my Benzes and need another!
MB Techs, Mechanics, need info and help!
Long story short, E500 70k on the clock and have a couple of I think electrical probs. The engine slightly vibrates and the lights slightly flicker. We're having trouble communicating to the engine module through CAN. We have a period message with a battery symbol that says Consumer Electronics shutting down or something and then the radio and a couple of other things don't work. These are the codes we were able to obtain:
9117 - CAN Communication
9133 - Timeout - under voltage
9136 - EEPROM Writing issue
9010 - Supply voltage to control unit too low
We checked all of the electrical components like altenater, battery, fuses, etc, etc, etc and we can't figure it out.
Thanks for any info...

No way! Best friend's car and she wants to sell it so she handed me the keys and asked me to figure it out and then sell it for her. She has money so I get to drive it until I sell it. I'm still working on my new car, lol...

Sounds like a ground problem, but I would start at the dealer and see how many of the electrical software up dates have been installed. I am assuming this is a W211 03 on. Here is a list that apply to first cousin E55.
Some are as you describe.

Jimmy, based on what I've read, it is a minor power supply issue. I think the battery control unit software needs to be checked and updated if available. After that, look at charging voltage of the battery in the trunk. If charging voltage is not around 13.5-14 volts, it most likely is a voltage regulator on the alternator(replaceable seperately). I would also test both batteries, and make sure the backup battery under the hood is good. I would lean towards the voltage regulator, but the BCM monitors that system, so I would start there. PM me if you need in depth specifics.

Hey Nick, I checked the voltage of the trunk battery and it's around 14.something so it checked out okay. My MB mechanic recommended changing both batteries and then see what happens. I will send you a PM. Thanks!

I wouldnt think your auxillary battery is the problem. You would have a red battery message appear stating "visit workshop" at all times immediatly after the car is started. If you could get an extended printout of the fault codes (current, stored, events as well as a frequency counter) I may be able to help you a little further.
