Jackpros car only came to you with 507rwhp?
What if you put on a super duper masive pully and raise that boost?

Yeah.. 507rwhp is what it came out at with the heads & cams installed and no further tuning.. Basically, once you do the heads on the car, it needs a tune because even the modified K2 programming was no good at that point.

2004 E55 AMG and 2003 C320 4Matic Miss my 993 Turbo above!!
If we are going to show the increase in HP and TQ for his installs, shouldn't we be starting out with his DYNO BEFORE CAMS, HEAD and PORTING? I don't see that anywhere's in this thread. Is it on the original "Stage 2 Head" thread started when his engine was being torn apart and worked on. I understand it got to you guys with 508 but what was it before the CAMS, HEAD and PORTING job.

Once you get a baseline, than you can compare his current 530 HP to that DYNO to document any gains. Am I missing anything??

Congrats on the pick up from 507-540...That is some serious pick up in HP from when it got to VADIMS. But it would be nice to compare it to what it was before all the new engine work was done......

Here is the original post for the Stage 2 Heads:

The before dyno part is totally my bad guys. I must have the worst dyno selection to choose from in all 50 states.

I bet flipping Idaho has better dynos then we have.

If you could only make some cash on them, I would buy one myself. 1-200$ an hour, you'd have to have that baby full all day to pay for itself and that sure ain't gonna happen here.

I gotta try to find the before dyno I had. Dyno guy up here SWEARS his machine is totally accurate and then gives a torque number of 684 to the wheels. I was all excited so I posted it and everyone started laughing. Man, that was a rough day. I knew something was wrong when someone said, "Jim, that's like 850ft lbs from the crank of torque. Ahhhhhh.....no"

That 550rwhp is miss leading bro the 550 was uncorrected. My final numbers were 520rwhp. So I gained 12 rwhp from air box, cams and dyno tune. It does feel good I drove it yesterday and it feels nice but it throws CEL codes every 2 seconds.

More Important Jackpro is your car done yet? Was it worth it to do the heads? What was your final HP? I cant wait to get that thing on the track.

Rocket there is nothing misleading about uncorrected numbers, it is actual rwhp made in the room. It is a better gauge of performance at that particular time and location imho.

Ya I understand what your saying but if you quote before and after numbers they should both be corrected or uncorrected. thats what I meant about miss leading. My numbers were always corrected and the 550 was not corrected!

Should be doing final dyno tomorrow but not expecting much more than the dyno above. Trying a larger TB plenum as I had the super early version from VRP.

Wish me luck that we make it on the dyno tomorrow. Just like Vadim, I wanna get this baby home and on the road for some kills.

Am I reading this correctly? You added airbox, cams, AND a dyno tune and only gained 12whp?

Sorry Rocket to hear about your troubles. I have to thank you though for taking the risks in installing NEW mods for your car. You and Jakpro1 are both trying to find more HP for our cars and I commend BOTH of you for it. Sometimes taking risks with new products doesn't pay off and sometimes they pay off bigtime. In this case, I think you stated it clearly.

You still have one of the fastest and most powerful E55 BEASTS around and that goes for Jim's car also. Thanks for updating us on your progress for your new CAMS, BOX and DYNO TUNE.............We will have to wait for Jim's final numbers. It's his turn now........

Take care bro............

Michael,

I think to have a clear understanding of where your car sits in terms of power is to take it to the track and do a 1/4 mile pass.

Dont forget.. your BEFORE dyno was done with 18" wheels and your after dyno was done with 20" wheels. That is worth 10rwhp at a minimum..

Also, Vadim did your dyno pulls in 3rd gear.. Your BEFORE Dyno with Adam was done in 4th gear and on a different dyno.. Thats worth 12-15rwhp.

4th gear pulls at this power level we are seeing that there is just not enough airflow to satisfy the motor when you are going 170mph on a stationary dyno.

There are 10 sets of these cams installed on various vehicles and the ones that did dyno got 25-30rwhp out of them.

You saw how the airbox swap on JakPro's car netted 28rwhp without touching anything else.

These mods are proven to make power.. When your car came in it was at 485rwhp and it went out at 550rwhp.. those are the only 2 numbers we can compare directly because they were done by the same person on the same dyno.

Please do some 1/4mile passes at the track and see how the car is running.

As for the CELs, I've talked to Vadim about it extensively.. It is not a power-robbing thing.. the CEL comes on because the amount of Vacuum that the MAP sensor is seeing is outside the allowed range.. Jeremy is looking for the map that has these threshold values so we can increase them. Becuase of the agressive nature of the cams, when you are on the throttle hard and then all of a sudden lift, that sudden change is what throws off the MAP sensor.. Other than the annoying yellow light, it is not causing any power problems on your car. But once we do find it, we will reflash for you and it will take care of it.

3rd gear vs 4th gear

Isn't 4th the closest to 1:1? if its in 3rd are you using the ratio of 3rd to make the hp figures more accurate?

Quiet often inside the dyno shop, even with outside temps in 60Fs, we are close to 100F inside.

temps

I understand the issue with temps and airflow ... but what I"m saying is that the gearing of 3rd is not close to 1:1. The numbers that show up on the dyno then are not accurate in 3rd unless gearing has been taken into account.

Yes, gearing has to be taken into account.

Since we establish the baseline in the same gear therefore the gains are the delta between before and after.

3rd vs 4th

So in 3rd gear do you see higher hp numbers than in 4th gear? or is it the opposite?

550 whp sound good to ME...wihtout CATs I should make a bit more with same mods...+ taiking into consideration that Rockets cars if I recall corretly dynoed stock at 408whp...which not that great compared to some stock 55 dynoed 415-420whp...

Anyways I cant wait for Jims final numbers...and Rockets 1/4 runs with same wheels on the track

Well this should be it. Do our final dyno today and then bring her on home.

Would love to track it down there at least once before I get her home.

Weird how time flies. Wife mentioned that we started this whole thing on Valentines Day. I honestly thought it had only been 3-4 weeks.

I just caught up on this thread. Those have got to be possibly the 12 most expensive HP ever purchased. Damn, I feel for you. Still love that you're out there pushing the envelope for the rest of us though.
