TPMS Wheel Sensors
Guys, I have a warranty question: TPMS wheel sensors...do they have embedded batteries or not? If so, are the batteries replaceable? I have a bad sensor in FR wheel...My warranty guy is saying they "don't cover batteries", and that the TPMS sensors have batteries in them.
thanks for any info you can share.

The TPMS sensors should not have replaceable batteries. They are powered by a motion sensitive charging system. I would call them again and lean on them a bit.

tech docs say embedded, max 7 year life. non replaceable.
depending on year and maybe country, can be 433mhz - Beru
or Siemens 315?mhz

OK, That is the reason, most aftermarket warrantys do have exclusions, and more than one could apply to the TPMS. Batteries, tires, shocks, wiper blades, brake pads are usually not covered, and in the fine print "advanced electronics" are many times excluded.

But here is the catch, it is a rechargeable battery that is built into the unit. So technically, a faulty battery is a faulty unit. There is also no way to say that it is the battery that has failed as it could aslo be the charging device or the electronics.

BTW, I have the Mercury "Platinum" $0 deductable with an electronics "over-rider" meaning they are liable to cover electronics, but not including batteries, or wiper blades, brake pads, etc.
So I'll continue to battle with Mercury.
BTW, they did not cover the tranny valve body either because it did not throw a code!?
thanks for the responses here....
