Best way to launch an E55?
Just got my E55, all stock. What's the best way to launch the beast from a stand still? ESP on/off? comfort/sport/manual? It would be pretty embarrassing owning a car like this not knowing how to drive it.
Thanks in advance!

Bingo...Timeless has it.
Once you work on the feathered launch, you'll have it down. This car is unlike any other in that AMG ATTACKS you with full torque at 1500rpm on up.
Basically gotta practice your launces on a deserted road somewhere. In a nutshell, you try to get the car down to the floor quickly and smoothly WITHOUT punching it. I try to count "one thousand one" when practicing my launches with the pedal being pushed to the floor during that sentence. Then it would depend on your rubber, drag radials on the street you can do that faster, conti's longer. Guy in Florida (fastest stocker before Housclass) literally said you can feel the weight shift on the car and when you do, you are all set to punch it.
On settings, nothing special. Best times we have are just normal. S mode with suspension on comfort and esp ON. Everytime we hear someone about to race and "I got ready by turning ESP off", you know they are in for a rough time.
Work on the feathered launch and you'll be loving this car all over again.

I also raise the suspension to help with weight transfer to the rear.
Now go practice.

all great advice for the street. if you're at a track with good prep slightly warm the tires and nail it from an idle. don't try to power brake to bring the rpms up unless your having traction issues or using jakpro's meathod.

Feather? What? I don't have that skill...
I picked this up somewhere else so I cannot make the claim to be the original author, but, it works for me, too...
Here is my gig and seems to work good (can run consistent 4.1's and 4.2's on the street on the G-Meter with this approach). So, on the street I have ASP on, comfort mode. When at a stop rev the car to 1100. When i go I release the break aggressively and count in my head "one thousand one". When I get to "one thou" I drop the hammer. This gives the car a chance to start rolling to where the RPM's are still low.
On the track burn the tires good. Turn the ASP back on. When the light hits the last yellow drop the hammer (from the 1100 RPM rev).
Best 60' is a 1.799 and 1/4 is 12.16. Car is stock wth the exception of Toyo tires.
Good luck.
