I raced a friends CLS55, from 0 to 120mph I was ahead of him because I got the launch well, however at 100mph+ he is pulling like crazy.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone say one negative thing about the SLK55 without Addicted2Speed having something to say about it.

Well what can I say, the SLK55 is an amazing machine. You can buy a used one for $45K, slap a supercharger on it for $15K and you'll have one mean 500hp roadster without breaking your wallet

They run about 11.7 @ 120mph and put down 430whp. I also have headers, exhaust, and LSD, so with just the blower, you're looking at around 400whp realistically. Still not too bad for a 3,350lb car.

haha I'm sure I will say that Kleemann is better and SLK55R will say that Renntech is better. The truth is that they are both equally good, so you can't go wrong with either one.

Formula Mazda, Beast Junior...400HP 135i
Those are some nice SLK55's and with a blower, it is the perfect car!

In my experience, Kleemann cars have a smooth and linear power delivery while the Renntech supercharged cars feel like the factory blown AMG cars...explosive. If I had to pick one for a track, the power delivery on the Kleemann would be better and for the street, the Renntech more fun. This is not based on a blown SLK55 as I have only driven the blown CLK55 but I bet the results are similar.

And to answer the original question, while the SLK55 is IMHO the best looking AMG built, it gets smoked by the E55, E63, etc. I thought I would replace my SLK32 with one but where I live at altitude, the SLK55 just didn't compare and was too slow (same thing with the C32 v. the C55). Now I am looking at one for my better half as she is not as addicted to HP as I am and I must have an SLK55.

SLK55Rs runs 11.7 or so smokin the tires all the way down the track. once he gets the car to hook up he will run mid to low 11s or break something.

SL65
The SLK55 is a fine looking car, I got more compliments on it in a week than my SL55 ever has so far.

I had an E55 and SLK55 both at the same time but I never got a chance to race them against each other. Both were stock.

The Lysholm is better than the roots, because the roots have external compression and create more heat. The roots is however less expensive, and just as reliable as the Lysholm.

Someone posted that they ran a 12.3 it was stock, just had air filters and drag radials. I think it was Bill the guy who runs slkworld.com

I think he ran like mid 11s with major tire spin and a $1200-1500 nitrous kit.
