S55 Vs M5
Well I was on a 2 lane freeway me and my cousin, after coming out of the muffler shop, excited about the new sound, I was reving up my engine while he was behind me, next thing I see is an M5 next to me, he thought I was reving at him, which I probably would've if I saw him anyways. He looks at me and smiles, and gives me , so I did the same, then he gunned it for a sec, I did too, then we both rolled down our windows, he said slow down to about 50mph, I did, then he used his fingers to count from 1-3, then we both gun it, after I advanced, he flashed his lights honked his horn, I slowed down, he waived to me to wait, saying this part of the freeway had cops, so we drove for anothe mile, then we got ready, rolling at the same speed (50) then I said lets honk, instead of had signals, so no one could have an execuse, so he started the honking, on the third one I gunned it, and boy I took off, I mean I was getting away from him by the sec, I got about 3-4 cars on him, to about 150mph, then I tapped my brakes, and slowed down, so he comes flying by, not slowing down kind of pissed, so I floored it again and just about when I was gonna catch up with him, cars appeared, so I slowed down so did he, then he rolls down his window, and say nice car, pull over lets talk, me and my cousin both did, stopped at an exit near, he was actually a pretty cool guy. For once I was actually getting props on my heavy A$$ S55. I was juiced that I actually beat an M5, and I'm being polite.

congrats! as i've said over and over (without many believers), our cars are not as slow at higher speeds as the mboard tends to claim.

Thanks, my car has a few mods, but honestly, our cars are bats out of hell.

Awsome kill, great story. Was your cousin following along? Be careful at 150 on a two lane road, would hate something unexpected to happen!

Very good question. Could have been either I'm sure. The S55 would surely walk an E39 M5 by a few car lengths easily. An untrained E60 M5 owner(or unaware, although not applicable in this case as it was a staged setup so both parties knew what was going on) can easily try to race and not be in the right gear/rpm at the start of the race and will get smoked.
Great kill. No excuses from the M5 crowd.
bfnnrgn and I got a few "off the cuff" runs in today while heading up to a new track that opened north of Dallas. He has a beautiful SL55 which has been VRUS'd with the 550 package. That thing is fast! He was all over me

Good Kill! Just be very careful a slightly modded M5 is sick on the HWY! I witness it to many times and I seen one at the track trap a 116mph at 12.7 the only thing he upgraded was tires to PS'2 ofcorse in ran a 12.5 @113mph so technically I beat him

However, high speed stability of M cars is superior speaking as an owner of both. However, falling more and more in love with the AMG low end torque.
I've said it once though and I'll say it again- 4 cars means the OP beat the driver not the car, unless trap speed suddenly means nothing. Our sedans are hit it and go remember, miss shifting is common with M-car, stick or SMG.

and although it's not the miracle worker the m guys tout, in stock form the m is definitely a stronger high speed performer.

If somebody has a stock M5 around me, I will run them any day, from a dig, or a roll, and I will put my money where my mouth is, but then somebody will probably blame it either on the driver, or tires, or something. Races are either won or lost, there should be no execues.
