good luck with the sale and let us know how it turns out. its hard to find cars that are "truly" loaded...most are missing one or two options to be there

62k is absolutely ridiculous! Especially with the amount of miles on it. Like someone said before the MSRP is meaningless. If you want to play the MSRP game, compare the MSRP of an S/CL/SL 65 and the price it sells for.

My car is almost identical to yours. It's black/black and the he only options it was missing was parkrtronic/distronic, pano roof, sat radio, and rear window blinds. It had only 15k miles and is in brand-new condition. Asking price was almost $14K less than yours. So, if you're looking for an unsuspecting buyer, like many MB dealerships, best of luck. But to seriously ask that much for you car is kinda crazy.

Since craniorectal inversion-boy was so kind to start a new thread for me, the info is posted (not in black and white mind you, but in brilliant color) in that thread for all interested. Good luck with the sale

No problems, I just didn't want to leave the door open for J.O.'s to come into the thread and mumble about what they bought one for. I figured it might end up happening but either way if someone wants it that's what OBO is for, we'll see what happens.

Posting an outrageous price does two things: 1) it gets on your nerves or 2) creates some exposure that may generate some interest or both. However, you must know by now, Szooby that $62 for your ride (a 2005 with high miles) just too high by a large factor. So when you say OBO do you want to start with something a little south of the planet pluto and let us know if you are still a serious seller?

Here are some auction numbers I saw on another thread, can't confirm their accuracy for 2005 E55s (recent sales)

You bought a car that stickered for $5,500 less than mine and MB gave you a great deal, hurray. It isn't like people can recreate this deal and it's for no one but yourself, so enjoy patting yourself on your back and have fun with your car.

There is also a chance that you drove the car into a wall and they pieced it back together for you and MB didn't want to get it back, so they worked a deal out with your insurance company.

There is also a chance that you are in a lemon law state that forces manufacturer's to buy the car back and you had a lemon but told them you would keep the car for "special" price. They then decided it was in their best interest to cut bait and gave you a good price for a normal car but a ****y price for a lemon. I live in a lemon law state and once a lemon goes on title the car is F-in worthless, half it's normal value minimum. It's illegal for manufacturers to screw with title but dealers switch states and reissue title all the time.

I personally think your deal is way to good for a normal situation and no one has ever claimed to get anything like that out of MBCC, so I will assume you have some F-ed up situation. If it's to good to be true..........

They could be lemon law cars, damaged or mechanically unsound cars. Manheim runs anything through the gate, they do not discriminate. I also have never seen such a conserted effort by a group to find such great deals, even non-AMG owners are working on it. I hope you have a dealers license and get to buy a non-CPO car on your own. I wish you luck with it's condition and what warranty it has, if any. If you recall any modifications on the AMG voids the warranty, so you better have your lift with you to look underneath it and a portable computer to pull the title to see if it's clean and then call the dealer to see if the warranty is in effect. Alot of people do not even know if a car is modified until something goes wrong, then they get F-ed when you go in for service. Goodluck with your search and I hope the fear of god is now in your mind, it should be.

I don't want to flame, but there are plenty of CPO 2006's with less miles for sale with a price of around $50,000

05's with such mileage are going for well under 50k...

Or there could be nothing wrong with them. Why don't you just chill out man? These cars are soft, whether black, white, blue or .... Why do people get all personal about the price of their cars? It's the market, it doesn't matter what anyone says on any board. But I think your personal attacks on people just because they think your car's overpriced is a bit out of line. I wish I could get $60k for my '06 with less miles than yours, but I'm not dillusional. If your car was such a great deal and so rare it would have been sold by now, and you're still trying to justify why your car's so great. Just keep the frickin' thing.

I need to replace the rotors and brake pads at 39K miles after driving at several drag strips and a road course...so if that's what constitutes a lemon then I guess I have an F-d up car.

What does not having an AMG have to do with anything? Goodness man, the deals are out there on the same car in 05 and 06 models. It's the market, and why are you mad at other members here that are pointing them out?

CPO, non-CPO, there are plenty of E55's out there with Carfax and AutoCheck verified from dealers, not just from the auction or individual owners. Hot one from a dealer on Ebay with 27K mi on it for 48K.

I can understand you wanting top dollar for the car Skooby, in that respect. No need to get upset or insult anybody over it though.

P.S.

I just saw this thread:

Someone is being mean here...

As a reference point, I bought an 05 with 21k miles from a MB dealer 2 months ago for $52. This included the CPO being extended from 12 to 36 months...

another thing is a potential buyer might just look at an 07 e63 with half the miles and just a few more $ than your asking price

won't be easy to sell with so much inventory, bunch of lease returns
gl with the sale

Wow....still for sale? I guess all those options you paid for when you bought it aren't worth much today. To me they're just useless buttons that break and you rarely use. Dealer jacks the price of the car up for a "loaded car" that depriciates like a sinking ship. But hey you didn't buy a Stripped Sliver Useless Turd, you bought a car that is worth half of what you paid for it.
Good luck with sale!

2005 MB E55

03/11/08 FAAO Lease $40,000 31,175 Avg SILVER
03/07/08 LAUD/MIA Regular $38,100 47,485 Avg BLUE

03/06/08 MANHEIM Regular $35,800 50,184 Below BLACK
03/05/08 ATLANTA Lease $41,500 41,137 Avg BLACK
03/05/08 ATLANTA Lease $34,500 62,664 Below BRI SIL
02/27/08 NADE Regular $42,700 24,480 Avg SILVER
02/20/08 SEATTLE Lease $39,750 30,358 Avg BLACK
02/19/08 DFW Lease $39,500 38,178 Avg BRI SIL
02/14/08 RIVRSIDE Lease $43,500 31,978 Avg BLACK
02/12/08 ST LOUIS Lease $46,250 27,279 Above OBS BLK
02/12/08 FAAO Lease $44,800 20,721 Avg BLACK

Those #'s are not far off. I have access to manheim also... they don not do so hot at the auction. If i bought his car at the auction and sold it for what he was asking i would net $15 to $20k...

I would have to disagree, especially on amg's. I know a few managers from MB dealers and private dealers that only use manheim to get rid of cars which failed their quality inspection or are deemed questionable. There are always exceptions to this but this holds true for a great many cars.

There have also been cases of clean title cars that were first going to be listed on copart because of body damage that were later fixed and sold at manheim as average or good with a clean carfax. Hard to believe but true, some people in this business also make a not so honest living. People put way to much trust in Carfax, or maybe it's because I live in south Florida and this is the scam capital of the U.S.

Imho the treatment the car received ie accidents, maintenance is way more important than whether it was modded or not.
I would only buy a used amg with a factory warranty or cpo that way you are covered.
Auction cars are like a box of chocolates you never know what you'll get inside..

cant blame skooby for wanting top dollar for the car...but lets get REAL now, low 50s is all you're going to get at BEST...60s = 06 E55s and 70s = 07+ E63s....no way in hell is a stock 05 E55 with any # of miles going from anywhere near 60k
