i cant think of another car from any brand with msrp just below $100k that can touch E55's depreciation. E55 even seems to demolish non-AMG E-class.. or am i missing something, are there other cars that depreciate worse?

Well M5/M6 didn't do that much better. 2006 E55's and 2006's M5's are both in the low 50K range right now ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

Jaguars and Range Rovers drop
Jaguar XJRs and Jaguar Super V8s drop like rocks in price as do Land Rover Range Rovers. Maybe a Maserati too, but its above the 100K discussion limit.

Jags have to be the absolute worst depreciating cars out of the entire high end market.
A $70k XJ8 or a $90k+ vanden plas will turn into a $15k car in 4 years.
The XJRs do a little better, bottoming out at around $18k-$22k, but that's still insane when you think about the original sticker price.
It's almost obscene. I personally can't understand why anyone buys a new jag unless they are some kind of financial sadomasochist. So ya, E55's tank like bricks in a pond, but it could be a lot worse.

I know the CL/S/SL 65 have an MSRP around $200k, but they seem to depreciate much worse than the E55. Some are surfacing up as low as $58k (clean title, good condition, but slightly high mileage)

I think we can safely say that nothing tanks like a 65. Worst "investment" you can make. Buy a Ferrari and it will probably still be worth MSRP by the time you sell it if you play your cards right. Buy an SL65 and you can go get yourself a dandy C350 with the proceeds from that sale.

211 E55(sold) & 80cc shifter kart
I hate to say it my fellow brotha's but the E55's are playd out! they have been for atleast 12-17 months now. thats why they are tanking. when the cls55 came out it was all down hill from there and then the 63's. by late 05- early 06 the market had been flooded w/ e55's. I sold mine 2 weeks ago.

i noticed the same thing. doesn't make any sense. also, u go to any internet MB board, there seem to be 10 times more E55s for sale than e320 or e500, even though regular E-class cars outsell E55s by at least 20 to 1. wtf

This is most likely becasue E55 owners tend to be enthusiasts much more likely to be on message boards than regular E owners who just sell thier cars back to the dealership when they get another one.

I think it is because the E55/E63 type of buyer is always looking to the next best thing while the E320 buyer is usually just happy with what they have. They'll do their lease return and get a new E320 with a low lease payment.

i think it has something to do with how long people keep their cars. accords and camry and diesel car owners seem to keep their cars a long time versus amg owners who typically have the wherewithall (?) to upgrade more often for the next best thing.

The SL or SLK will always hold value better as that is the nature on the roadster/convertible market.
If you want a car that holds strong, by a dually with a diesel.![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
As to why a regular E holds value better...the average buyer does not care about the fact that it is an AMG. So they look at the price and they can have an S-Class or an E55 so why would they want an E55? Another factor is that a used late model E55 costs as much as a NEW E350. Sad but true!
