well then its a redlight, its far from a puzzle...if the weather is cold enough for you to run a 117+ I can assure you i wont be running a 123 You shouldnt have anything to fear, if you look at any of my reaction times they are all over 1 sec Still think you can cross that line first

I have a few tricks planned for NOV 15th. One of my trademarks was captured on tape but thankfully yet to be posted. while effective vs any F/I car it will prove even more devastating to TURBO equipped vehicles
Practice the tree JW, you do not want to give me 1 second.

practice keep thinking this car is where cut my teeth drag racing, and also keep thinking I will be in my current state of tune, not that I need any more HP but you dont want to see my latest dyno sheet

so red light = loss, if both cars red light the car that is more red loses. First car to cross the beam is declared the winner regardless of any othersplits on the slip. Win light is what matters

I am not your enemy, I simply need a beer and a floor to crash on . When the time comes , and it will come, I will be ready.

Great write up for the drag racing novices. I have a few questions. What launch has proven to net the lowest 60 foots?
radials = esp on, power brake to 1200 rpm and roll into throttle?
drag radials = esp off, power brake as high as possible and mash the gas?
What is this other method about launching from idle and rolling into the
throttle?

On the E55 , it is esp on, raised suspension, comfort suspension, d/s, leave off idle rolling out not a mash a controlled step down on the pedal , if the car bites then mash, like hooking a fish set the hook then GO.
Power brake to 1100 also has attained good results.
ESP off for the 63 crowd !

I really don't understand how you guys can race with the ESP, T/C on???? I have tried it and I run mid-13's. All my 11 second passes are made with no computer assistance.

hi, everyone
I am a new e55 owner. I got some questiones:
1. why not use airmatic on sport 2? I felt more powerful
2. why not use manual? I runed the e55, I felt manual mode is more powerful than sport mode.....
Many thanks!

there's no power increase using any particular settings. sport 2 doesn't allow enough weight transfer when accelerating from a stop nor does it provide the best tire contact patch in a straight line. also, i've tried many times and you won't beat the auto sport setting by shifting yourself...especially with the lag between when you push the button and when the trans actually shifts.

P30 / LSD
P30's have lots of little differences, things made of different metals, 14mm bolts as opposed to 12mm and of course LSD. Would any of you P30's do anything different? I assume no, but I would rather ask to be sure.

Use sport mode and let it shift for you. It's almost impossible to time the shift yourself to shift at redline given the lag. The common method I think is to use sport, click it down to 1 before starting (probably not necessary, but then you can be sure you're starting in first), and floor it. Don't touch the shifter/buttons after that, sport mode will shift for you right at redline, hence it being fastest.

When racing from a roll, again use sport mode but hold the downshift (left) button down for a while and it will downshift to the optimal gear before taking off. If you don't downshift before the race starts you will lose precious time when you floor it and the car takes it's sweet time downshifting.
Manual mode is never fastest for straight line racing ... it's probably only really useful for road racing where you don't want the car automatically upshifting for you at inopportune times.
Not sure that airmatic setting matters for a roll-on type race. You want it in the softest mode when launching from a dig to get the weight transfer to the rear. The same probably applies for the roll-on, but I doubt it matters that much.

Yeah, in sport or comfort mode it will upshift for you at redline. In manual, you'll bounce off the rev limiter.

when i set the airmatic in sport 2, i can feel the exactly different from the comfort mode when you hit the throttle, the throttle is more sensitive
and the feeling is more powerful... i don't know why
another question is in the sport mode, auto and shifting use button are they the same of not? i think shift button will stronger
cheers!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this sticky. Yesterday was my first time to the track with my E55 and the information provided really helped. This is truly a awesome forum with a ton of knowledgeable members...great job guys.
