Ok here's the deal. I got a couple cars right now. The one I'm contemplating getting rid of is my '06 Lexus GS300 w/ 36k miles. I'm thinking about maybe doing an even trade for an '03 E55 w/ 70k miles. What do you think? The LExus is under warranty, the 55 wouldn't be.

Anything that should be addressed on the 55? What would you do? The 55 is priced at 30k plus tax/lic. I'm hoping for at least 30k out the door.

Discuss.

You'd be a nutcase to make that trade.

Sell the lexus first, then take the money plus a bit extra and get an '04 or something with a lot less miles and an extended warranty.

You are too cheap to be driving a used Benz kid. As the sales will probably tell you or think it when you walk in.

Put it this way if you spend 30K for a 70 tick 55 that's what you will get, come on step up to something with a warranty.

With cool words like that I would be suprised if the guy didn't laugh at you and tell you to stick with your Honda Toyota as you walk in that no name used car lot.

Sadly I am not joking...normally I wouldn't even bother with posts that starts with "sup foos" But judging by his wordings the kid is probably 17.

About a week ago I was at my local dealer looking at some R class, and there was this kid I would say 17-18 yrs old making a scene with a salesman and he was talking and sounding like this OP was, the sales guy ended up just walking away and the kid was there demanding a manager making a scene.

Everyone there felt uncomfortable by that, I wish they would just call security and get that guy outa there. Since the OP is from "kalifornia" I wouldn't be suprised it was that same kid.

and sorry for the OT, now back to the regular channel.

You know what, Mike's been around these forums for a long time and I know him personally; that's why he asked the way he asked; he knows almost all of us in here! He's not a "17yo punk" blowing smoke and is a nice guy and that's just his personality! His thread was not to have people judge him personally but to simply ask a question about an MB, that's what this place is for right?

Back to Mike's question, what's up man?! Hope all is well and long time no see! Anyway, stay away from the early production 03 W211's unless they have warranty. I have an 03 E500 with 72k miles on it as my daily driver. It's a great car over all but thankfully I have warranty taking care of the little electrical issues that arise now and then. I love the car though!

Let us know what happens man and yeah, Mark Cummins is still in here! Saw him a couple weeks ago at the myMBonline meet in the OC. Dude you should've come out man! Anyway, just sold the E55 to another member in here and will hopefully get another W211 E55 by the summer. Talk to you in a few...

Ok...totally understandable But biggest possible issue is for newbies or other members who don't know him as an older member or see his huge posts counts...I can see how they could mistaken it also and get the wrong perpective...GodFather keep in mind as the years passes we age and so does MBworld and with so many minds in one site you have to expect similar behavior...I read other posts by other members and can tell by reading more of the post that its a friendly enviroment and I can't say you are a kid but can see how the newbies or members who haven't heard of you can get confused...whatever you do sell the Lexus privately and get more out of it then the Stealer ship will give you...get an 04 and up E55 but wait patiently for the right deal...which in our current economy might come sooner then later.

P.S I bought back in 05 a 96 Lexus ES300 mint for under 10k and sold it a year later to family for 5k now they want a newer car so they went to stealership to see how much they can get for it about 2 years later and the Stealership said $1500... So now they are trying to sell it privately and even offered it back to me....they are lucky if I give them $3k now.

KBB TRADE IN IF WHAT I INPUTTED IS CORRECT....

Excellent
$3,575

Good
$3,175

Fair
$2,475

RETAIL SALE...

it only gives an excellent value... but its $7425

Now imagine they were dumb enough to let it go for $1500 thats a possible $5k the Stealership can make. I always felt KBB is a site created to help Stealership not the consumer If you try edmunds.com I believe those prices to be more real world.

Here is Edmunds specs...

sherlock holmes, you are not.
before putting your foot in your mouth, it would have been advisable to do a search for posts/threads by the person you assume to be an immature kid.

Wow bro, thats all there really is to say, as your actions are those of a douche as we in [K]California call it. You sir are the type of person that gives MB'rs a bad representation. Please sell your car and go away. people such as yourself are NOT welcomed here. and just for the recored The Godfather has had some of the nicest cars on this form.

If you're getting an AMG, then make sure you are covered under some kind of warranty (even if it has a deductible). Sometimes things just break down, and for an AMG, parts and labor are very expensive.

Like everyone mentioned, you're better off selling the Lexus privately then shopping for a better deal on a 2004 model.
