Who's has better engineering Italians or Germans?

If you had a choice, which would you rather see on your keychain.....Raging Bull, Prancing Horse or Porsche Crest?

No question, the prancing horse for me.

Let me preface this with...I'd own any one of the aforementioned company's cars...(granted, if I was given a Porsche or Lambo, I'd soon sell it for a Ferrari)...

I'm not a big Porsche or Lambo fan. Why?...

Porsche seem to continually upgrade a 40 year old design, albeit, a debatable world beater. Of course, the Cayman (and in a lesser regard, the Boxster) offer up another performance platform, but not world beaters. I've just always seen Porsche as a one trick pony...flame on.

Lamborghini...I just can't get past their respective boxy styling. You line up the Countach, Jalpa, Diablo, Murcielago, Gallardo...They all look very similar. I guess the argument could be made it is an evolution from the Countach.

Ferrari for me is the epitome of the ultimate sports car. They have dominated Formula 1 in different eras, so they have the race pedigree. They also have many different offerings from the Ferrari stable, one timeless design after another. How can you beat that? Taste, of course.

Historically, I'd say the Germans in modern history. The Roman Empire sure props up the Italians though and may put them over the top in human history. :nerd:

Hmmm....tough choices...

Before last week, I would've said the Prancing Horse...but after attending a press evening at the NYIAS and having had a close look inside and out of the Murcielago LP640 and the brand new Gallardo LP560-4, the choice is a lot murkier after being surrounded by all those carbon fiber and alcantara bits!

Germans engineer with there brains. Italians engineer with their hearts. The Japanese engineer with computers. Daily driver and car you can put 15k a year on, 911 Turbo. Handling and general bada$$edness as a second or third car you can take to the track and win- Ferrari 430. Angry beast for show and you can take to the track and not win, Lambo. Be prepared for nasty maintenence bills though. My buddy just had an 8k clutch put into his Ferrari at around 10k miles... and I can't even imaging what an F1 tranny costs to work on.

Or take a z06 or zr1 and put anywhere from 60k-200k in the bank, depending on which eurobeast you choose - and embarrass all of the above at the track if you swap to stickier rubber.

Last post was right on. For every day driving the germans produce a better product, as they put more emphasis on practicality. For sexy no holds barred dream machines, the italians don't care about what's practical. Only what's possible.

The japanese produce a more reliable product, but they just don't have the personality or attitude.

Germans Hand down. I want a car I can drive everyday and not worry about servicing every 5000 miles. Now the Japanese on the other hand... one car comes to mind. SUPRA PERIOD!

Germans sure are a special people. Amazing innovators have come out of Germany. Something about that German brain I guess......

IT had Davinci and a long list of others of course,
but when you look at the inventions that have come out of Deutschland, it's amazing.

1. P-car- reliable, quick, handling BUT old tech interior
2. F-car- handling, bespoke feel BUT too flash for my taste
DNF. Lambo- fast, BUT not as capable as F or P car and poor image

Germans are better engineers, hell look at what they did for Lambo. From an engineering standpoint, they're unstoppable.

The one thing you can't engineer however, is emotion. That's why I'm going for the prancing horse here. The 599GTB and the F430 Scuderia are just flat out amazing.

I vote for the Japanese.
I voted for Ross Perot, too, so go figure. I need to check and see if any of his classic one liners is on YouTube!

I'd love the money for a new F-car. Hell, even fairly new used one. Got to say that depreciation is a mans best friend when looking for a used AMG and you don't hear me complaining

LP640 (E-gear..too jerky but i wouldn't mind )for me!!!!
After i got a ride in my friend's, hands down Lambo!!!
he let me borrow his F430 for 3 weeks (during this winter), i loved it too!!!
It has no torque/accleration of Lamborghini.. but has much better transmission though(The best F1 transmission i've ever driven..makes me think that there is no need for manual transmission..just amazing) there's no jerkiness when you shift (even at redline)
