*** VRP Top Mount Intercoolers ***

It is time to push forward on this project.. The VRP Top Mount intercooler project is in motion.

We have another VR700 car that is a donor car (he wishes to remain anonymous).. It will be used to fabricate and measure up all the components that are needed.. His car is currently undergoing the stepped header install so once those are done, we will start tearing into the intercoolers.

My goal was and always will be to put a package together for $6K - $7K retail. I am not sure if I will succeed in the pricing part, but I will try my best. I think the final price will all depend on how many units we make.

Once the first set is made and we get a chance to revise the tune for them we will see how much more power they will give us.

From what people are telling me, Kleemann was claiming a 50rwhp increase by going to their top mounts.. So if we can push from 570rwhp on a VR700 to 620rwhp I will be very happy.

Stay tuned...

Victor...

Is it not possible to have the S/C turned upside down and deeper into the V to open up larger space for one single larger I/C...using same location of the exisiting I/C...?

Obviously the plumbing in turning the S/C upside down need to be weighed against the benefits of the single I/C rather than 2 banks.... anyhow just trying to think outside the box..

I have alot more common sense than that.. lol.. Our air intake will be alot cleaner...

I think pretty soon you better just start signing over your paychecks directly to me.. it will be much easier and more efficient instead of you cashing it first and then sending me the money.. LOL..

Absolutely! That's the main reason to do this.

Not really.. The S/C has the integrated intake ports bolted to the side which sit overtop the heads... it would be a big job to do that I would think.

Hey.. you read my mind...

Quick math here... 570rwhp + Top mount gain of approx 50rwhp = 620rwhp.... 18% driveline loss... 756hp @ the crank... ding, ding, ding.. we have a winner... VR750 is born..

And with 5.7 is going to be VR800...

but the only point to spend 9k for stroker kit is to go further for TT set up...

I thought about it more and we should definaly come close to 600rwhp with those coolers...NOT 620-630 I was mentioned before cause we forgot to minus CF AB and tubes which are worth 23 whp I beleive...those will be taken off with top mount IC...

Victor just dont forget to send 1st kit to ME ...and will supply real road racing results fast...

Victor ...I guess I'm in line, too. All that's left on my plate is the VRP transmission upgrade and top mounted I/C's......I just need to get my wifey two more Louis Vitton bags to keep her quiet...I just have to put that into her head and her eyes will just glaze over and she won't care what I put in my car...

The displacement increase itself is only worth 20-30hp max.. The lightened and strengthened rotating assembly is the main benefit of this setup.. it will withstand MORE boost and more abuse than the stock block.. You know what that means...

That's hilarious!! Sounds just like my wife... She loves Louis Vitton also.. I think she has 3 of them now and a few Gucci purses...

The tranny you can do whenever you are ready.. see how the car handles the power first.. if it starts slipping or you break something we can get it switched out.. I will have a core on the shelf ready to go so no waiting..

As for top-mounts.. Oh Yea.... It's gonna be sweet.. I dont want to reveal all the details, but, you know I care about looks, so this will look as good as it performs.

LOL.. That's true.. You are going to have everything we make on that car so there wont be much else to stuff on there.. well, unless you want to add a 125shot of nitrous ontop of the S/C and the 2 turbos..

When it gets closer to the final assembly I'll take some pics.. I dont want to reveal too much right now... I'll post some pics of the raw cores in a minute..

We have the cores that we are going to use.. We chose to go with Bell for the cores. The new intake manifolds/intercoolers are being fabricated..

I dont have much in the way of pics to post right now.

We have the air intake figured out..

Once we get a little further along I'll post some sneak peek photos of some of the peices.
