W211 AMG Discuss the W211 AMG's such as the E55 and the E63

E63.W211-E55.F-150 big foot.Vespa Fly-50.
AMG HP question

Pardon me if this have been discuss before.

W211 E55 is 469hp and SL55 is 510hp but were they tuned differently but using the same engine-parts?
I went to mbusa.com and the new C63 is producing 451hp vs the E63 at 507hp it seem like alot different in hp wise.

My prediction is that output is identical as in the E55 v. SL55.

2008 CLK63 Black Series 2012 C63 Black Series 2014 SLS Black Series
The 63 motors are available from 450 (C63) all the way up to 525 (CL, S63) with a buch inbetween like the CLK 63 Cab at 475 and the Black Series at 500. They are identical engines, however they are being limited by electronicaly.

As for the C63, I have already seen a baseline run with whp at 372, so that is inline with MB's claim of 450 at the crank by my calculations.

We have several documented dyno sheets that show many E55's ran 500+ bone stock on the dyno.

We think (best guess) that Benz just quoted hp numbers lower due to the whole class thing. C's a are lower, E's are middle, S/SL top of the food chain hp wise.

Weird thing on our cars is the WIIIDDDEEE spread of hp between each car. After all these years, my personal opinion is it all comes down to compression ring setup when new. My cylinder walls are super smooth (when we did the heads we really got a nice look at them, yet when Vadim did a compression check, my average was near the lower end of the spectrum. Guy like Higginsbeach did a compression test and tested right near the top of the range for each cylinder. More compression, more power. Bet that would explain how my car tested 476 on Kleemann's dyno, but the infamous DerekFSU pulled 517hp both completely bone stock. That's quite a big difference.

There are also variations in the air intake / filter sizing depending on how much room is under the hood. Good for +/- a few HP.
