Constant I/C pump
Would it be beneficial for me to rig Johnson I/C pump to run continuously?
What would be the install process - power wire to ignition somewhere??
Thanks!
You can grab an Accesory 12V power from within the engine compartment, driver side, near firewall at the base of the windshield.. Lift the plastic box to expose the fuses and relays.. there is a thick RED wire with BLUE Stripe. Tap into that wire. It will only provide power when the accessory key is on or the ignition is on.
with regards to the i/c pump, i know the newer models got a revised pump but i've never seen or heard any evidence to say that the ecu runs the pump any less.

I really saw a nice difference in reduction of IAT's with just this simple mod. Meaning IAT's were reduced much more quickly.

Back to topic, Sorry...

Perhaps when the HE was upgraded (05? 06?) they programmed a different pump engagement strategy?
BTW, I love your reservoir and secondary HE setup.

you would be the only other person i know of that's actually tested their pump. how did you determine that your i/c pump needs boost or elevated water temps to come on?

The pump wouldn't energize in Park until I revved the poop out of it to get water temps up.
On the dyno, it didn't turn on during warm-up (CPT brings up the water temps to 80c min to get car into closed-loop) and finally energized when he brought the revs up and the SC clutch engaged. I'm assuming it was SC-related, but it could have been a closed-loop trigger as well...
After that, it was pretty much on all of the time.
on a morning run.. the beast feels strong but its because the engine is still cool.
I have tried to punch it before she receaches 80c and I can feel boost to about 4k and then the komp clutch disengages..
I let off the gas and punch it again.. and power is there.
In my case I know that my IC Pump only starts after it hits a certain temp after that.. I have no issues at all.
I guess running the pump all the time will only help during morning start up.
I manually touch my heat exchanger and IC pump hoses on a daily basis and once the car is warn.. it running all the time.
