63 models out soon?
ayeee, can't wait for this to happen..... 2009 E50 AMG? v8 twin turbo? bring it on!
The first to go will be the brand's 6.2L V8. To replace that engine, AMG is working on a new twin-turbo 5.0L V8. In base guise, that mill will make 570 horsepower and 665 lb-ft of torque. There is talk of even a higher output version of the engine replacing the company's 612 horsepower V12, which would be rated at 700 horsepower and 885 lb-ft of torque.

There is no way a brand new turbo engine will end up in the 2009 line up.
That would mean the 6.2l V8 and '550' V8 lasted less than one model cycle. That would be very bad economics on MB part.

Why a 5.0 liter and NOT use the current Mercedes 5.5 liter in the 550 models? And why not twin turbo the current 6.2 liter? Or better yet, why not twin turbo the 55k engine, which has been proven well over the last few years? Seems too costly after they've spent all that money on the 6.2 L engine?

In March 2010, AMG will finally unveil its gullwing coupe codenamed C197. It packs a transaxle drivetrain, eight-speed auto and the latest version of the high-revving 6.2-litre V8 into a sensuous new supercar shape.

My guess is amg's twin turbo will be a destroked 156 motor and mb's twin turbo will be based off the 273 motor.
Mb likes to play around with displacement before they go out and develop entirely new motors
