Buddy of mine busted on tape doing 144 on the highway.
He owns a video production company so he is practicing shooting for a show he is working on. Some drag runs in his slower magnum (hey, he loves it) and then the highway run all get caught on tape.
Luckiest guy on earth. He shoulda been in the joint for sure.

I'll have to ask him when it was taken. Friend of his, who is a friend of mine, send me the link. Maybe it is few years old. I know he was working on a show called ModdinArt showcasing Amercian Performance cars and street modding but I don't think it went anywhere.
Super great guy and kicks A in the vid studio.

Hooooly ***** he should have been busted. Out here he'd have a knee in his carotid and a glock to his dome in 15 seconds flat after being pulled over.

I haven't spoken with him in quite awhile actually. Don't even think he knows I have the monster.
Should I send him this link or would that be kinda rubbing it in??
Don't wanna make him feel bad, but I didn't know he was such a drag nut honestly. Gotta fly out there and meet up with him soon.

that seriously is crazy, i was doing around 97 and the cop pulls me over and says he was PACING me and i was doing over 100 so on the ticket he puts 101+. i hate freaking california cops, they can be pigs most of the time and they make the smallest things such dramatic things. since were on the subject anybody know what i could do about this ticket since he said he was PACING me and i know clearly i didnt go over a 100 since i had my odometer in the digital reading?

I'm not impressed by your friend...he was his left hand draped over the right side of the wheel running down the quarter mile! If anything happened, it would be bad news.
That aside, he is a lucky man. I got busted in one of my AMG cars on an empty highway on a Saturday morning and while the officer threw the book at me, he let me go. is attitude was far from enthusiastic which might have had something to do with the fact that it took him one mile to catch up to me on his motorcycle as I didn't know we was chasing me and had slowed to the speed limit so he could close the gap.

I got pulled over once for 128 in a 70, and another time for 105 in a 45, both some time ago.
The 128 they bumped down to 90 and cut me a break, but the guy for the 105 in a 45 was a dick and wrote up the full amount, although he still didn't take me to jail. I fought that one and actually got out of it. IIRC, his radar certificate was expired or some such, and I showed up to court with a court reporter (which tells the judge you will appeal if they don't follow the rules), and he let me off on the technicality. The 90 in a 70 I pled in exchange for a withold...that guy was nice, I wasn't going to be a dick to him in court after he cut me a break like that.
Bottom line, IMO:
2 things:
1: It's a royal hassle for them to take you to jail and book you if they are just doing traffic duty or stationary duty, especially if you are out in the stix (which you would have to be to go that fast...hopefully), and especially if they're near or at the end of their shift. So a lot of it is their own convenience factor. Knowing that, if you're nice to them they will usually let you go with a ticket, unless you're racing another car, then it's game-over.
2: Times have changed. The shiznit I could get away with on the road when I first started driving, or even 10 years ago, is no longer possible these days. Reason: Cell phones are now so affordable that everybody has one, and everybody is a ******' cell-phone cop. If you are doing 140+ on the highway and you see even one other car on the road, then there's like a 99.9% chance they have a cell phone and will probably use it to call the cops on you. Almost makes you wish it was back to the days of BellSouth-Mobility with my $400/mo bill and the 30lb cell phone that cost $2k and was attached by a cord to a bag with a shoulder strap. At least then every mom in a station wagon couldn't play state trooper.
Also, that guy should have had a radar detector and a CB radio if he's going to drive that fast. He prolly would have avoided the whole thing.
