Posted this letter to Rob Allen tonight on AMG chat

The fact that I am actually speaking to AMG corporate right now is a true testimony that AMG is unlike any other car company on the planet. It’s the little things like these monthly meetings that really make us feel like we are actually “part of AMG”. It’s with this wonderful relationship in mind that I humbly come to you guys with a quick comment.

I can speak for many of us when I say that the 6.3 motors designed by AMG are just wonderful. The deep and menacing sound they make is unlike any other. It really saddens me when yet again this week, a member of another web forum commented that he went into his local dealer and was ready to trade in his SL55 for the SL63 but after driving it, really missed the feel of his forced induction car.

I know that you cannot comment on future developments (heh, of course please do if you want), but many of us have read varying rumors about turbo development of the AMG V8 engine and wanted to share how MANY MANY of us are in overwhelming support. To many it would truly be a natural progression to the work of art that is the AMG V8.

After discussing this issue, some talked about a public letter writing campaign to show our incredible support for turbo V8 development but in the end, we decided to approach you guys tonight since you are literally at our finger tips each month.

Again, it’s just incredible to even think that a world wide performance car company would take the time to listen to us customers and for that opportunity, we all say THANKS AMG!!! You really are a world class operation!

Your loyal and horsepower hungry customers.

RESPONSE:

"You guys are definitely part of AMG (you power us).

Regarding boost systems via turbocharging, AMG is always looking at new induction systems which must deliver big power but also comply with emissions and fuel economy standards.

Right now, we cannot confirm any specific plans on turbocharging, but this technology is one of the most promising future types (in combination with new injection and fuel delivery systems) - so stay tuned.

You are welcome to start a letter writing campaign - but posts to the Private Lounge are probably more effective (and fast...)

Rob Allan"

If they prefer that we post in the AMG Private Lounge, then we should all do so. It is very easy, and every member is already verified with at least one valid VIN for at least one AMG.

Thanks for the response......

In all honesty I have no idea who Rob Allen is (the head of AMG?) but thanks a lot for writing the letter. Can someone post the link to where we can all send letters please? I think it would be cool if we all got on top of it.

I've bolded the part I found rather odd. Rob says this, however, AMG continues to support the V12 twin turbo in the 600 and 65 motors. Please don't get me wrong. I absolutely love these motors and would like to see AMG trickle these down to their other classes.

Thank you to the OP in submitting the letter. Count me in as another AMG owner who would support this cause.

From what i've heard from several people, the mileage the 65's/600's get is around the same as the 55's.

Therefore, no reason why AMG can't TT a V8.
They can start with their 6.2L motor and drop the displacement a bit to make room for the TT. If not mistaken, the 600 motor is a 5.5L and the 65 is a 6.0L.

RS6 still hasn't been confirmed. I had them refund my deposit. Also, if only the Avant comes you won't want it anyway as it weighs more than 2000kgs

That's as close to a "Yes" as we're gonna get. It just makes logical sense that they're going to turbo future models, the problem, of course, will be people modding the hell out of them.

I say 5 liter, high revving TT V8 mated to a 7-speed box. Fuel efficiency for cruising and crazy boost when you want it.
