STAR Experimenting
I just got the software loaded and proper cables to the multiplexer so I thought I'd start learning this thing. My Teleaid expired a while ago but I wanted find a way to remove that SOS Teleaid warning from the instrument panel when first starting the car. I found it and now the warning is gone. Here's how it's done if anyone is interested....
Start DAS and choose your vehicle type, then model, and you get the home screen seen here. Choose Control Units and hit F3 or Enter.
Then pick Information and communication.
Then Audio, video, navigation and telematics.
Then CTEL / TELEAID
Then Control unit adaptations (not what's highlighted here)
Then Authorization: Signals in multifunction display
Then under Coding select NOT ACTIVATED and press F5 to save.
I also did the 10 degree Celsius cooling mod as well while I was in there. That was very easy and only a couple screens deep.

I'll take a pic of my setup too so you can see exactly what I've got. We can plug in and see what we see no problem. I'm in Laurel during the week but love up in Mt. Airy.

I am sure Brian got a lot better deal than me, but here is where I got mine from off Ebay. Works absolutely perfect and the guy is super great to work with.
Bout 2500$ and comes with everything but the case like Bri's. That would have been cool to get.

True, but lots and lots of scammers out there. Also lots of systems that just don't work correctly.
This guy is true plug and play. He has some Stars at around 2250 but not sure of the difference. Perhaps newer laptop (heh, they all are the old fashioned IBMs they used with original stars, but maybe that or newer mulitplexer unit)

From what I remember, all it is is essentially preinstalled star + cables on a laptop.
I'd love for someone to clear up what exactly you pay for
The parts certainly ain't worth 1500$+

I know!!! It's that mulitplexer unit that is getting us. Not sure where they are able to snag it. The software is just hacked Star software and that's already been done, but that actual benz unit/part....if we could find that kit, we could make our own MBWorld version for cheap.

WOW, that one is nice!!
Love that friggin case.
Mine is the same, just no case and the the plexer doesn't look pretty like that one.

I told them that I heard it was part of or the same menu that has the seatbelt chime/headlights chime. Am not sure if they just disabled the keyless go chime or all of them...will test that today.

Hey Brian,
Looks like you are still having fun...
You guys are lucky that you can pick them up for $2K - $3K now.. They were $12K+ last year and alot less reliable sources to get them from.
P.S-> Where can I get that hard case from?? I really need one of those to put my STAR into.
