2007 e63 drivetrain loss?

Hey all...
Can anyone tell me how much drivetrain loss there is in the 2007 e63? Trying to figure out power to the wheels versus to the crank.
Thanks an help is appreciated!

still doesnt seem totally right. Has that been measured?
reason I ask, is beause MB swear 507 at the crank and I am hearing a lot of these have Dyno'd to the wheels around 385-390 from what I have read on a lot of posts which would average out to about 23-25% loss.
Thats if you take what MB says versus what people are finding at the wheels.
Hmmm....

I just hit the Dyno with my 63 yesterday.
I will start off by saying it was 95-100F about 40% Humidity. Airflow was a little bit of a problem. Fans were a little weak.
My car was already a little hot by the time we went to make out pulls(105-120C), but I put down 405HP to the wheels and my max torque was about 368. These number came from 4th Gear in Dyno mode and nothing else turned on and used M mode to hold the gears.
To top it off I do have the Renntech chip in my car which appears to be working since my origional speed limit was 155 and with the new program we got the car to about 187.5 We hit the speed limiter in 5th.
I think if temp conditions were in our favor and my car had been running below 105 C I might have been closer to 420 at the wheels. But it probably wouldnt have been any better then that.

So....That was my day. My scaner is acting up and I will try to post my graph later on....

Tim for more mods!!! Looking forward to the new CF boxes being installed..gotta get these numbers up!!!!

I am pretty sure that a slushbox = slang for an automatic, not a manual. Old gix, with your level of expertise, I assume you are making funnies. Z

Good seeing you too jay...
yeah it was a terrible day for dynoing...especially since they didnt have a temp controlled enclosure.
Even still guess im still glad my numbers were better then a lot of people have been getting. Gonna have to go back to Moores in the fall after a couple more mods!

I've been crunching number all night and day so far...I think the biggest problems were my engine temp, poor ambient temp, poor airflow from shop. still think 18% is conservative on the drivetrain loss. Only thing I have been able to come up with it closer to 20%...was thinking a hair more, but if I take those previously mention variables into the equation 20% would be about right.
Anyway I still love my car, just wasnt happy with how it all went down.
Again looking forward to some more mods and better conditions next time around...my beast needs to save face !

Does your dyno show corrected and uncorrected numbers?

The 405 to the wheels is average 4 the 63's. Do you have your charcoal filters out?

My car did very similar dyno numbers 408/370 and recently 435/399 with lighter wheels and VRP 530. The highest stock we have seen is in the 420-430 range with one freak 63 hitting 440. I think you should be very happy with the 405 on such a crap day weather wise

remember dyno numbers are just that, numbers. Its IMPOSSIBLE to recreate the airflow needed to cool the cars adequately in a dyno situation. We ran your car to 187mph on the dyno, ever stick your hand out the window going that fast, expect to pull your shoulder out of socket, there is no way those fans can recreate the airflow needed. That being said the true test of HP is your 1/4 trap speed, hence the reason you see me and others run there cars so much at the track events. Its hard not to get hung up on the numbers, ask me how many people i emailed about my low TQ numbers I made yesterday, to only find out that the dyno sampling statred at 4300rpm after my tq peak at 3000rpm
