To Mod or Not to Mod
Hey Guys,
So i think i'm almost done with exterior mods. And i have 41k miles on the odo and my warranty runs out at 50k miles. If i start doing engine mods with my high mileage car, and something goes wrong later it'd cost a fortune to fix?
What do you guys think, are these cars mod trustworthy in the long run?
Thanks,
Andrew

If you do mod further, make sure to have a good relationship with your SA as that makes all the difference in the world. Then go talk to VRP.

Don't do it! Once you start you can't stop!!! Then you lose to a fully built and stroked 2.3L motor, built trans, cams, GT30R, ltw mods, etc etc Evo and you go and spend even more money when you could have bought that built Evo for less than the price of mods on your car!

I have about the same amount miles on mine with a few mods, also just bought an extended warranty. I plan on keeping mine for another 3-5yrs so I would say mod away as you will have a hard time finding a good replacement. Key is make sure to have a good relationship with your dealer/SA, maybe buy them a bottle of their favorite booz, it goes a long way.

I don't believe in modding...
On a serious tip, I think with any European car that you mod (BMW, Porsche, Audi, etc...) you will come up the possibility of a costly mechanical repair, especially if you go back to the dealer for the work. Just go in with your eyes open, disposable income for worst case scenarios, and please let this not be your daily driver (down time while in the shop for modding and/or repair can be lengthy).
As far as mechanical integrity, I believe the E55 is probably one of the more stout engines out there. Just make sure the mods you get work together and always post questions on the board if you have any...there are a lot of knowledgeable members here (don't look at me).
PS...Get a pre-mod dyno to see how healthy your Beast is...

i think the question is, how long do u plan on keeping the car. if u plan on keeping it for at least 2-3 more years, yeah mod it and enjoy it. if youre one of those people who goes thru cars every year or two, not worth it.
