I'm considering moving over from links to the ELM.
Please share your likes, dislikes, and any problems you may have had.

Thanks

I don't qualify as a long term user since I've only had it 2 weeks... However, I love and hate the ease of adjustability!! I'm constantly tinkering with the thing because I think the ride height is a touch high or a touch low. Like others have mentioned, you want to pick a ride height that you're going to drive around in the majority of the time, and then get an alignment to prevent excessive tire wear.

Do yourself the favor of picking the ride height you like first and then get the alignment! I love my module. I SLAM it 0 front 0 back for showing drive around with it on 1 in the front and 4 in the back. You can see my sig. Since my is under the cupholder for ease of access as well as stealth I turn it off when returning to the dealer for work to be done.

Does your dealer know you have the ELM? What was their reaction to it? Did they do your alignment? I haven't gotten my alignment done yet since I've only had it a couple of weeks and have not settled on the ride height yet, but I was wondering if I should try to hide the ELM from my dealership...

Mine is hidden. Under cupholder. Dont goto your usual dealership to have the alignment dont. Goto another MB place or someone else who will do it. Were i live there is like 10 of them around DC. I went to one I normally wouldnt goto and had them do it.
I would recommend if you goto the dealer turn the ELM off when you pull into the service lane. Tell them you need an alignement done but plan to hang out because you would like to talk to the guy doing the alignment. Then when you pull it in talk to him directly and turn the EELM on have it adjust to the stance you want and tell him to goto work

I don't have an AMG, but I've had my ELM for almost 2 years and still love it! No problems whatsoever! 100% satisfied!

Why not have both links and ELM?

If the ELM can lower the car enough, I don't see a reason to use links anymore. I don't like how, with links, the car sits at different heights at different times.

I've read that the ELM will keep the car at a constant height. Is that true?

Vegas - I see you have both links and ELM. How was the install done? I'd think that your car already sits low with the links to begin with. After adding the ELM, won't it dump your car?

For some, the ELM does not lower enough at least in the front. The rear is fine. I don't know about the ELM keeping the car at constant height b/c it was one of the first mods done to the E63, but it sounds right to me.

Edit: The links came after the ELM.

Sometimes I think I'm seeing things with my car. Some days it looks higher or lower without me changing settings to the suspension (this was before the ELM). I still believe that I see some slight fluctuations even with the ELM. I've come to accept it as life with Airmatic...

I have the new ELM, it is amazing! 5 different ride heights. Each wheel can have a custom height. I scored it at a meet for 700 for some charity.
We (PSK) and I put it here, easy to get too. Easy Install.
This thing is slammed, there is no way it could go any lower and be drivable set to 0 like in the pic. I set it at 1 front 3 rear. Dumped with 6 people in the car high speed turns no rubbing, amazing..
Edit, when I took it to service, I turned the ELM off, set the car to normal height and put a magazine over the ELM. No one saw a thing.

I've had my RennTech ELM (first Gen) for almost 2 years and love it.

I don't think you can control all 4 corners on a W211, unless you are playing a balancing game with the suspension. The rear only has one sensor.

I had to control mine to have it set right. 1 fronts and 2 back right and 3 left right. When I took my car In I turned off the ELM ( during the fuel recall) and had them adjust the air in the suspension. I was fine after that & I set it to how it should be. It was fine anyway, the way I had it was almost exact when it was off. That is what is cool about controlling all the wheels. Plus the new ELM has a rumored REMOTE CONTROL..whoop whoop

+1 thats why I stuck with the Gen 1 (W211 single rear sensor) version got a good deal at the beginning of the year after the Gen 2's came out. I bought it directly from Renntech full warranty and all If you buy a Gen 1 second hand Renntech wont warranty it. According to the few people I spoke with there.
I would have paid 500 more for the Gen 2

I've had enough issues with Renntech's warrantys........

All W211s have 3 sensors. one on each front and one in the center of the axle in the rear. It doesn't matter what the ELM does or how many knobs it has.

The remote is rumored and we are waiting. I like the knobs just as good and wish they would just offer that as a cheaper alternative.

The digital part of it is key. That is why there is no tuning (whoever tuned). You let some air outta the airmatic?

The links do add to teh drop and the ELM is pretty good with avoiding error messages. Also, STAR and the ELM drops are low.

Top notch product and my first mod....

I've had mine on the car for about 6 months and am VERY happy with it. My service tech complimented me on how aggressive and "racecar" like the car looked. He told me that if I had any problems with the suspension that were warranty issues, to just remove the ELM and he would take care of me.

+1 I have the gen 2 version and it has the three control points that Jangy notes. I.E. you can not control the rear wheels independently. I have the remote version, but I don't think the actual remote is out yetWho releases a product with a feature that isn't totally complete?????

I wired mine for 4 sensors according to the instructions (which were confusing). It works fine, but when the ELM is off, one side sits higher than the other. so Im thinking its wired wrong...but havent checked to see, and havent turned the ELM off since

ABC has four sensors, so maybe you set it up for that? I'd get it wired correctly and also get your airmatic recalibrated by STAR before you break something...

The instructions in the manual state that 4 wire sensors are for w11 e class, 2003-4/06. So I followed the directions.

I'll double check the wiring sooner or later. Just been busy with other things.

Doh...the manual is not correct. You need to wire your w211 for the 3 wire setup not the 4. use the 3 wire setup. Thats what I have done and it works perfect.

yeah, I've been lazy since its working

I figure if something goes wrong with it.....I followed the directions provided by RennTech, so it shouldnt be my fault.

Today is actually a nice day, maybe I'll go out and do it. Just a few wires anyway I suppose.
