New Grill - What do you think?
#7
I have this and love it! Its the way the E55 AMG should have come from the factory. Stock grill=luxury package, This grill=AMG package....I think this is how AMG now does it on the C cars. They got wise after some time.

I'll give you love. I've had mine on for 4 years and like the opinions on the forum have been more anti CL look. No worries...all that matters is that you like it.
I just bought a new CL grill and I've had it "blacked out" to see how it looks that way just as a change...I'll post pics.

too many chrome slats for Cl look grille...
i had it on my 203 which actually looked better...
after a few months, i got sick of it and put 05 factory grille...
factory, blacked out factory or brabus...

I put that same grill on mine along with the Whit Star badge and wasn't sure I would like it as I hate aftermarket grills. I have to say that it was a major improvement over stock and most everyone that has seen it in person has really liked it. I must roll with a crowd that suffers from mass bad taste!

This is the thing... The star on the grill looks good on the CLS and the CLK because their grills are smaller (I think they would look better without the star too). That huge star doesn't look good on the E IMO.

Here is the best star grille I have ever seen. It belongs to C32 MIAs old E55. Note: it only has two slats from star to sides instead of the usual three or four which looks cluttered. I think this one is a winner!
Harsany, I'd paint it black and see how it turns out. Thats my 2c worth.

Not sure why so much hate. I think it looks far better. They really should come from the factory with the STAR. Now that the C63 has it, it will make the E, including my 63 look aged. For $100 g's the STAR should be dominate. AMG = BOLD

2006 E55 Black on Black
Thanks everyone for your input. I do think the star is a bit big and I may go back to the original grill or maybe paint the original grill black.
Thanks
Thanks

I had a similar one. It looked like the OEM E grill, but with a star on it. I didn't like it and took it off after a while and back to stock with just a flat badge on it. Looked much cleaner.
There's some other dingbat with a C class that has a grill with a star on it, plus they have the upright star on it still. Ridiculous looking.

People either love it or hate it...
The only thing I don't like is that with the larger slats it seems like it might restrict airflow. I would much rather have a grill made out of the same material as the lower grills and fog surrounds.
