Don't mean to sound noob-ish but how will the VR550 affect my existing factory warranty? I refuse to own an AMG without a warranty. I think you'd have to be either really good with your hands or have a butt load of money.

Another noob question: if the VR550 provides 465rwhp - what does that compare to in a stock setup? I realize the mfr claim of 469hp is probably at the crank or something.

The E55 actually puts out 493 at the crank when dyno'd from what people have told me.

It affects the factory warranty the same as any other mod would. If something breaks and they can link the mod to the cause, then you will be denied warranty. Also, if you go in and they see the stuff, they can flag (status 8) your VIN. I would have a decent relationship with someone at the dealership if you plan on mods. Most MB dealers around here have been pretty mod friendly.

I think I have a decent relationship with someone... Now I just need to get that money... And convince myself that I actually need more power.
BTW... I know that the VR550 gives you 550 HP... how does it affect your torque?

Numbers differ between cars...but...after dyno I had 470hp/510Tq at the rear wheels...so around 572hp/622Tq at the crank.

Did a little more reading. The 469 number is brake horsepower - hp sans loss from gearbox & drivetrain, so that 493 number is likely from a modified E55. Otherwise, Mercedes was extremely conservative in their official claim. So stock RWHP should be around 420ish.

i've seen stock e55's dyno like 410/470 tq something like that
how reliable is a modded e55 with pulley, ecu, and filters. Im very interested just want to make sure i dont blow it up ...
i once had a modded lightning, got power hungry with the pulley...and then it only ran on 7 cylinders...granted this engine is much better....but still makes me nervous (as i picked up my e55 literally yesterday and am not 100% formiliar with them)

From what I've heard MB is very conservative about their HP claims when it comes to the E55.

The VR550 is the best bang for the buck. you basically add 50 hp and 50 TQ

Manufacturer claims are simply marketing. MB simply could not justify selling the $150 - $200K S/SL/CL 55s, and keep the E at around $100k. So, they simply said it had less power. Same thing goes for the C63 vs E63. Do they not both dyno the same and yet MB has lower claims on the C63.
Just for reference, MOST E55s dyno at anywhere from 405 to about 420 at the wheels. Most think the variability is the cars and I think it is the dyno runs. Go figure. I have no clue what crank horsepower is or what it would mean to me, but I know that rear wheel HP helps.
