I am SOOOOOO Ghetto...VTS Side Markers
SO, times are tuff and whatever. I decided to give this a try and it worked out really well. If they scratch I will just re-spray.
VaderTeckSport or VTS Side Marker Instructions: Works with basic colors.
1. Can Primer Wal Mart 99 Cents
1. Can Shiney Wal Mart 99 Cents
1. Set of wet dry sandpaper 220 Grit is what I used. Wal Mart 2.99
First you take off your side marker. Use a credit card or Plastic Painters Tool and pop them off. Pop them off from the side that is narrower. Push and Pull.
Then lightly sand side markers.
Apply 4-5 coats of primer color. Do not balst them with paint but stand back and give them a liberal amount so not to cause drips.
Also paint sides and back to block yellow light from bulbs. Paint bulbs too if you want. Not sure if this is a bad idea but here at VTS we try our hardest to be experimental in the name of progressive motorsports and tuning.
Let dry and then sand again.
Apply 4-5 coats of Shiney Color.
Let dry.
This should only take a couple hours.
NOTE: I painted the bulbs, you can use hyper white bulbs to get rid of the yellow or some type of bulb that will not give you a fault code for leaving the bulbs out.

Finished Product with the lights on. The pic sucks it picked up all the dust, it looks better in real life and the 10 f00t rule totally applies. ( if ya can't notice within 10 feet it passes )

If it was a new car I probably would not do this, but with my paint being a few years old who give a fawk. I just got a new rear bumper too because of a fender bender. It was pretty trashed so my car is looking pretty pimp again.
I can not notice the difference in the paint at all and I bet no on would notice unless I pointed it.
I just saved 50 bucks at least.
I also do not like the crappy smoked black ones. Those look cheaper than the VTS ones.

Harbor Motorsports painted my grill, and I think that's got some chrome type of stuff. Jon said that he needed to strip it off before he painted it. So I think it has to be stripped. They'll take care of it!

Just a couple tiny little dots comes through on the side of the marker. I am gonna take them off and paint them again and just hit the sides harder. I can only see the dots of light when the garage is pitch black. The first pic is with the lights on in medium garage light. There is no glow whatsoever coming through the body of the marker in the pitch black.

I might just get some Matte Black HREs and sell these off someday.
I am not a fan of Chrome, they came with the car but at least they are a good brand.

Man I just did the same thing 2 weeks ago, I only had flat black engine spray paint but even with that it look ten times better. yes i will need to remove them and paint the outter edge as well as you see a little light on each side.

Would that still be ghetto if you paid a shop $$$$ to do the same thing?
I was watching Unique Whips on Speed the other night and almost feel out of my chair when I saw them rattle canning various parts on a customer's car!
