The V1 saved my A**
Friday night in the Bay Area (hw 280) around 10pm. Don't get many chances here to open it up with the traffic. Between 90 and 115mph in very light traffic for approx 15 miles. The Ka band starts to go nuts, drop to 65mph and snuggle up against two other cars. See the head lights coming...closer...closer... and slowly by me. Held my breath for 5mins. Would have been toast w/o it.

V1 is the best, period. Mine is 7 years old and works as good as it did on day 1, even without POP. The day it dies is the day I buy another one. There is no better detector.

Every time I'm on 280, I spot at least 3 speed traps (especially around 92). There are certain areas where there's no over passes and on ramps, that's when I let the cars breath.

does the chp use something other than radar on 101 in Marin and 280 in San Mateo? lastly where do you guys mount your detectors in the car in order save the car from being broken into ?

Yeah exactly what I do. But I've only noticed Ka get used by the CHP so I tend to ignore anything else. As for mounting the detector, I just use the suction cups in the center of the windshield and put it away if I'm parked in a bad area.

I have noticed more CHP sitting at on ramps just slightly above sight line. They monitor traffic as it goes by. I was hit with Laser recently on 280 in Santa Clara. He was parked on the left shoulder and hitting cars in the passing lane. Fortunately for me, I picked up his laser behind other cars in front of me and was able to let up on the gas.

I used to live in the Bay and I visit a few times a year and I'd be hesitant to speed ANYWHERE up there. I don't get down to the 280 much but in the east bay if you don't get hit up by CHP, you'll get messed up by the potholes on the 880

That is exactly why I was pushing it on 280, 880 "Road to Baghdad" is my usual drive. 95% of my city cops and CHP are Ka band. Very few hits with laser to date.

The cops out here in AZ seem to only use Ka so whenever that one goes off it is hard on the brakes! The other bands, well, I'll start looking around and lay off the throttle.
Love my Valentine.

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck....
I Drive with V1 in MBE55 everywhere..but wife is away on duty..took her Z3 convertible for a spin..hasn't been driven for months...didn't take V1...from stop light for a short stretch of straight road to a long on-ramp of highway I gunned it...wasn't really looking at speedo. I'm on middle of on ramp..I see grill lights behind me...what? CRAP! This is the first time ever I have heard of (let alone being me) anyone being stopped on an on-ramp. He comes walking up to me..chuckling..turns out he was right behind me at the light in an unmarked. Read me all the way onto the on-ramp where I exceeded 'posted' speed.
Thoughtfully he didn't write me a speeding ticket..here in florida a warning can be written out as "failure to follow posted signs". Still a fine. BTW, speed limit of an on-ramp is whatever speed the road preceding the on-ramp was, until you reach the highway. Also, in Florida, 30 over limit is a criminal offense, go to jail, car towed and impounded. Glad that didn't happen.
Word to the wise.

Funny, you drive an E55 and the wife drives a Z3. My wife drives a Z4 and I drive an E55. How do you stand that Z3? Nobody else in my household will drive the wifes Z4. Too small, too slow, noisy, and rough.
She loves it. LOL
