Tire gurus, suggestions?
The tires I'm considering are basically any r-compound available in 265/19, or on the other end of the spectrum, Toyo T1Rs as I've had good experience with them at a very attractive price. I would rate my criteria as followed:
1) Grip/Hookup
2) Noise
3) Treadwear
4) Price
Any ideas? I havn't really considred the PS2s because I figured at that price I would rather step up to Sport Cups, or for half the price go with the T1Rs.

Also go to the search function and type in PS2 in you will find many tire battle links.
i got 19's and i got 275/30/19s rear and 245/35/19 front and they are general exclaims and they have really good grip but they are noisey so im going to go with the regualr nitto 555's.
for a performace tire they are quiet and they ride good.
For 20" rims I would go with the toyo T1Rs only cuzz the REO1r dont come in 20s
the REO1rs are way better that the T1Rs in my comparison.
Michelin Pilot Sport Cups is what you are looking for. They are great in the rain and are a R compound. The regular PS2s are NOT a R-compound.

My favorites over the years have been the Yokohama Advans and the Toyo T1R's which are a bargain. I last used the Advans on my GT3 and modded Evo with great grip in all respects and minimal nose combined with good wear patterns. I have T1R's on E55 and had them on several Dinan BMW's as it was a recommended fitments. They are not quite as aggressive as the Yoks but were not too far behind in terms of performance. Not to mention the T1R was available in the size I needed.
I am no PS2 fan and was jumping for joy when I took them off the GT3 and threw them in the trash. I had trouble with noise, wear, and strait line grip. All of which were greatly improved with the Advans.
Good luck!
1200 with shipping...figured this was the best option besides the ps2's which i just honestly feel are overpriced no matter how good they are and the mere fact that i'm on 1 and 3 settings with my elm just tells me i'm going to be replacing tires quite often
any feedback others having experience with these tires would be appreciated

Anyhow, I'll probably end up going with the Toyo T1Rs since they have the sizes I need, however I will ask one last question before I make a final decision. Realisticly, how much time would a set of R compounds shave off the 1/4mi compared to regular high performance street tires? A few 1/10ths, 1/2 sec? I remember a clip shown on here of a stock E55 running drag radials (big difference I know) vs a heavily modified E55 trapping 120+ on stock tires, and the stock E55 lept out ahead for the majority of the 1/4mi. Made me rethink tires anyhow
But I don't want to go all out with drag radials, but r compounds perhaps.

Tried michelin Pilot Sport cups (80 Treadware) and now on the R1s (40 treadware) I still smoke them like crazy.
I have to try Drag radials next.
But this was the video I was referring to with regards to drag radials. But I take it I wouldn't see anything like this with r compounds haha.

See yeah

PS: For street and mild track I too have and LOVE the Bridgstone 050 PP's. One amazing tire
I was answer a question as to if the were better than high performance for a launch.
I would of assumed that with a much sticker treadware the would help a bit. (it isn't difficult to warm the tires up before launching)
