I WANT TO TAKE THEM OFF OF MY CAR TO HAVE THEM PAINTED. IS THERE A SPECIAL TRICK TO GETTING THEM OFF OF THE CAR?

If you can wait until Monday, I can PM you back after I talk to my A/V installer. He was the one who took off all trim...from what I saw there is an internal bolt and a sliding clip involved on the door molding. I'll get as much specifics from him when I get back into town.

dunno if your ride will be similar to my 210 but look for single screw near the
hinge (for rear door moulding)....and beneath locking mechanism (for front
door moulding). after that, the moulding simply slides off. in my my case,
it's like a 30 second task.

The front and rear ones are easiest if you take the bumpers off. The chrome colored pieces have some hooks in them. You slide them then pull. The pieces are cheap, so you may want to just replace them. i did that on my '05, but I just had this one taped and sprayed.

Jangy, the chrome pieces is what I want to replace. Is there a seperate part number for them? Do you have to buy the entire molding in order to get the chrome strips?

As far as i know the chrome pieces come as part of the moulding. I would either paint them on the car or take the mouldings off and remove the chrome. The pain is the door panels. The front and rear bumper ones come right off.

so, I figured out how to take the door mouldings off but I have not figured out the front and rear bumpers. Do I need to take the bumpers off to remove the moulding or can I pop them off?

They pop right out. You pop the panel side and slide it slightly to get them off the hook. If you have parktronic, the pieces come with you. You'll need to take them out or disconnect the wires.

Do the sides pop out in any special way(i.e. front vs back or slide one way vs another?)

the sides have a screw on each door that needs removed. Once the screw is out the mouldings slide right out.

I don't know if the bumpers need removed to get the mouldings off of them.

No, the bumpers stay right on. you may wanna search for a writeup on installing the EUro impact strips. Takes a few minutes max and no screws. I can show you how. Advice: use something mild to pull the first bit or you can easily chip paint.

Are the screws on the sides? No need to remove the door panel?

I thought that they are just pop off pieces but they just don't seem to want to come off at all.

I am using a plastic pry tool just so I don't damage the paint.

It only pops off on the panel side. The rest has these hooks that hold them in place. DON"T just dig or you'll break those clips. Go pull the rounded corner on the driver's side. Once it pops, the quarterpanel piece kind of hangs and you pull the piece perpendicular to the front of the car so that the hooks slide, then it all just comes out. only ONE pop spot per piece, LOL!!

I have the sides off and I got the clips off of the chrome strips. The clips are a ***** to get off!!

I am going to try the bumpers next, so far no collateral damage to any clips.

I haven't taken all the parts off yet. I don't know where I am going to take the parts to have them painted.
