KBB used values for a E63 AMG - how's residual?

If you guys were buying a "pre-owned" car does it makes sense to get a E63 vs. a E55 only because the maintenance is less on a non-supercharged car. I would think the the N/A cars cost less to maintain - is that true?

I've been tossing around a few 4-door automatic sedans and the two cars I keep coming back to are the Lexus IS-F and the E55/E63 series of cars.

Used IS-F values seem to be the in low $50k range, how are E63's in comparison?

Is there any good examples for sale on the boards here that you guys can direct me to?

Prefer a white or dark silver/gunmetal colored car but otherwise not picky on options. Low miles and mild mods are ideal

You'll get much more excitement driving the E55/E63 vs the IS-F. The E63 is a great car, and you should be able to find a good one for about $60k. The E55 is also an awesome car, but most are out of warranty. Obviously, the E63 has not been proven as reliable as the E55 yet because it's only been out for 2 years vs 6 years for the E55, but so far things are looking very good. I had mine for about a year and a half now, and have put it through numerous track sessions (both drag and twisties), and the car has not complained or given me any problems yet. The mechanical maintenance on both cars have not really been too bad at all. The danger is in the gadgets and electronics. For example, I've read of some members' navigation consoles going dead and the dealer having to replace the whole unit instead of fixing it $$$$. Others (CLS63) experienced the whole dashboard dying, which the dealer also had to replace (lots of $$$$). These incidents of course are not wide spread, but may happen and may come up.
In the end, you'll be happy with either car, you just can't go wrong with W211 AMG . However, which ever you decide on getting, please make sure you invest in an extended warranty (preferably one that your local dealer deals with all the time).

Were the repairs for the dashboard/nav not covered under warranty?

Forget leasing a used car, the residuals are softer than a down pillow with 700 thread count covers. As for the E63 values, take a look at auction pricing. These are not prices to the public but it gives you perspective. Also having owned a very fast E55 and most recently driven an IS-F for a day, Id say that without doubt the 55 is faster but the IS-F is the better handler IMO. It comes down to what you want: a stop light racer than lights up the strip and has excellent comfort or a pretty good handling Japanese compact 4 door.

Both were covered under warranty. The Nav car was a 2004 E55 and the dashboard incident was in a 2008 CLS63 I think. But anyways, yeah both were covered under warranty, but without warranty, they're almost $3k a piece. So one visit to the dealer can cost more than what someone would save on buying warranty. That's why I always stress warranty on these high-end cars.

I said forget leasing a USED car... you are preaching to the choir when it comes to leasing new units.
