2005 CL 65
E or CLS - AMG - Help with Pros & Cons
I am selling my CL 65 as four doors better suit my needs at this point...That brings me to my question....Should I pick up an E or CLS. I would be looking at either a 2006 55 or 2007 63...
Thanks,
Andrew

In the end up to you. I found myself with a simular dilemma 2 years ago when my daughter was born I had a 2005 C55 and the back seat is kinda small and is not child seat freindly. with me being over 6ft tall. I decided on the same choices, either a CLS or the E class. In the end obviously looking at my sig. Biggest reason for me was the access of the back seat is tougher to get in and out of if you have anyone over 5 ft tall trying to get in. The curve is pretty sharp on the pillar and does not allow for as much in and out of the back seat as the E. I use my backseat a lot and somtimes have tall people getting in and out. CLS IMO looked like it was going to be tougher in that regard. I think I also read stock vs stock the E is slightly faster as it doesnt weigh as much. Personally i like the look of the CLS maybe a little more but everything for me just kept leaning toward the E for me and my fam.

I had same dilemma. I think cls looks better snd you see less of them of around. I don't need room for more than 2 people in the back so it eas any eady decision. Car seat for my 2 year old fits back there with plenty of room. Both cars ate beautiful and power monsters. Obviously a 55 is easier to mod but I went with cls63
Good luck

2003 E55 AMG
Besides an ever so slight advantage in acceleration, I also believe that the CLS has better braking and handling. That may not be a consideration for you considering your reasons for getting a four door. But, I do think the CLS looks better.

Style: Personally, I prefer the looks of the E over the CLS.
Performance: Both are very similar stock. However, if you intend to do some light modding, you will get significantly more bang for your buck with the 55 motor.

Adding to the above comments, i dont feel the rear seats are hard to get into.. you can't fit 3 ppl in the back though, so if thats an issue , get a E
CLS just looks stunning IMO compared to the E's outdated look... my advice, go sit in the rear seat of a CLS and that will help you make up your mind...
i started with an E63 in my car hunt and after driving one and then driving a CLS63, i didn't look back
