AMG65 - VR660

Here is our latest for 65s.

We did not have optical pick up on this particular CL65, so it is only showing HP. Based upon speed aand HP, I am estimating TQ to be in mid600s accross the curve.

This is a CA91 tune and on 93 and 100 we can go further, closer to high500s.

This particular tune has been on a number of cars for some time now and on 100 calibration went 11.6@125.

Vic55 also had it on his CL65.

600s and 65s are the same externally when it comes to ICs and air boxes.I am doing further IC testing on our S600 later this week.

Stay Tuned!

Thank you Vadim... factory cooling on these cars is as bad if not worse than the 55k cars, unfortunately.

Vadim:

Do you think you can get some dyno runs with an optical sensor to do before and after dynos? You mentioned in the VR620 thread that it was a pain to do but that it was worth it to get the torque results. I think it would be worth it as well for us 65 owners who are interested in your tune.

550whp on 91 with just a tune? Impressive. Too bad I'm saving to buy a house or else I'd pick up a used SL65

It's 480 at the RPM of the tuned engine's peak. It peaks a little higher, maybe 492 or so on that curve. It's a bit lower than I'd have thought but not too far off.

Should be getting a 65amg in the coming weeks. What kinda rwhp numbers are we looking at on 93? What price? Does it include TCU programming also?

I agree. When next local client comes in, we will do before and after.

Congratulations!

On 93 expect another 20RWHP.

TCU is not included and will be available separately, once we complete testing.

Vadim, will there be a package to fit the 65 engine in the E-Class

The numbers look very impressive

That is a possibility. I have a client from Middle East who is looking into doing a conversion.

When it happens, I will make it an option.

Vadim:

Make it an option for the W211 platform...so you can post all V12TT info in the W211 section without complaints...

Actually its already available from Brabus for C/E/CLS/G, the problem is it costs like $80,000 from what I've heard

I thought Brabus doesn't use the 6.0L TT from Mercedes They seem to have a 6.3L version of it, but I'm not sure if it's Mercedes or their own engine

Brabus stroked the 5.5L V12 MB engine to 6.3L along with bigger turbos, better cooling system, and wrapped all that in a custom tuned ECU to get that magical 730bhp.

It would be cool to see if Vadim manages to fit a complete stock 65 motor along with the 5SPD tranny into one of them C/E/CLS/CLK cars.

Do you happen to know why they used the Mercedes S600 engine and NOT the S65 AMG tuned engine?

I would have to speculate that they use the 600 engine because it is cheaper for them and there is a greater supply of them. The maximum stroke for that block may be 6.3L...so why pay AMG to send over the expensive unit when they are going to stroke it anyway (doesn't cost any more to go from 5.5L to 6.3L than it does from 6.0L to 6.3L once you open up the engine
). That is just my take on it.

What are the differences between the 5.5L 600 engine and the 6.0L 65 engine? Is it just the displacement or are the internals different?

Here we go....Straight out of the cartionary...

"The 600 SL's 5513cc of displacement has been stroked to 5980cc. This was carried out by AMG engineers in their lunch break, by increasing both cylinder bore and stroke.

Originally, the 5.5-litre V12 had a bore of 82mm, which is now 82.6mm, while lengthening the stroke of the crankshaft by six millimetres to 93mm culminates in the final displacement of almost 6.0-litres.

Furthermore, the charge pressure of the twin turbochargers has been upped significantly to 1.5 bar, and other goodies like forged pistons (to cope with the extra stress), main and big-end bearings made from extremely high temperature, plus pressure-resistant materials and enlarged apertures in the injection nozzles (to achieve a higher fuel flow) combine to help increase power outputs.

Speaking of which, power is transferred by a five-speed automatic transmission with the "Speedshift" function and a non-intimidating steering-wheel gearshift. While we've got no immediate qualms with Mercedes' silky smooth five-speeder, this is the AMG model we're talking about about, and six forward ratios would have improved the quarter mile and standing start times respectively (and the removal of a torque converter even better).

The exceptional torque of the V12 is always safely under control, thanks to modifications to various transmission components, the rear axle differential, the drive shafts and the wheel carriers.

And at the end of the day, it all boils down to is this: 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds. Not too shabby for a car that weighs in at what is rumoured to be close to 2.0-tonnes (the 600 SL weighs 1950kg). "

My thoughts- the main power maker are the increase in Boost (tuning) and the increase of size in the Fuel Injectors. To top it off with forged pistons..

Turbochargers I think are the same.

The turbos and the injectors are different part numbers... they are the same for the 600 S/CL/SL and the same for the 65 S/CL/SL...

600 Injectors: A275 078 02 49
65 Injectors: A275 078 03 49

600 Turbo: A275 090 12 80
65 Turbo: A275 090 21 80

Don't know about the injectors as Jayson and I looked very close at them and they were completely different shape, then again we could be wrong.
