Walked a new M3....
So I pulled up to a light (somewhere in mexico) and behind me is a new m3 2- door convertible. I didn't think they would race as most people are unsuspecting of the true capabilities of the beast. To ready myself for the potential battle, I placed the tranny in Sport mode and suspension in comfort mode.
The green light drops and we both punch it. The M3 was keeping up with me until about 50 (due to my traction issues and stock contis), but by 110, I had about 2-3 car lengths on them.
Upon receiving a nod of approval, we both went our separate ways. Another victory for the Beast...makes up for the loss I had against a turbo mustang with 560rwhp, but thats a whole different story

I raced one a few months back. I was trying to line up with him(he was 2-3 cars ahead of me) as soon as he saw me trying to get close he floored it making it 3 and a bit cars. I followed, which really i shouldn't, but i closed all the gab and was about to pass him, but he slammed the brakes

he was behind you...
that's a really tough pass from a dig.. by the time the car in front takes off.. you lost .5 to 1 second waiting for him to clear.
specially a convertible (6 spd or M-DCT) since it weighs more..
If a sedan or coupe trap around 110 to 113.. the Convertible is about 110 at best..
but thanks for sharing..

Motorweek just showed a test on the new M3. I believe the 0-60 time was 4.1 which should run with most 55's and 63's. When a car is this quick it is a matter of who gets the jump, at least in a short street race.

I've had a few run ins with the new M3 and 335i and haven't been impressed with either. The 335 at the track was getting walked all day by EVERYONE. I'm sure it is all driver again, but at some point you have to look at the car. It isn't exactly my problem that my MB is easy to launch.

capturing accurate and relevent 0 - 60 times is tougher than the driver. Enough so, that the numbers literally mean nothing to me. they tell me general ballpark, but nothing specific. At least time to distances or even higher speed rolls are easier to measure.
