NorCal - Alameda Air Base Autocross Op
We've had dialog on getting access to the base and the old air strips in the past. I was randomly on the base last Sun and came across an autocross event that was well run. Mainly american muscle (modded vets/stangs, vipers, a few M5s, supra's etc). Ended up talking with Jesus who runs the show. He founded American AutoX (www.americanauto-X.com) which usually ran out of Merced in the central valley. Has his eyes on the Alameda location long term and would love for us to come out. Biggest hurdle for his outfit is dealing with the city regarding insurance, permits etc.
Nice thing is no membership, and if we can get at least 5 cars per event he'll open our own class moving forward. I already have 2 buddies and their M5's, so that is 3 already.
Overall the atmosphere was great, was packing my 4 1/2 yr old girl and she loved it. Only negative is the season is close to wrapping up. He is trying for one more event in Oct, otherwise will be rolling into next year. We can monitor their link regarding the Oct date, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Correct, track event. On Sun is was $50 and they were getting in 3-5 runs for that. Dollar amount depended on number of cars.
The issue is city will not allow "wheel to wheel" racing. We could ask for a 1/4 mile run, would be solo's.
