295 on a 9.5" rim?

I have 19x8.5 up front and 19x9.5 rear wheels. Its time for tires and I want something a bit more sticky in the rear but in 19", regular street radials wont make the cut and drag radials arent yet made in 19". The optimum choice would be the Michelin Pilot Cup Sports or the Pirelli Corsas as they have sizes better fit for a 9.5" rear but they are about 125.00 more per tire then the Toyo R888's The Toyos are a 295/30/19 which per their website is better fit for a minimum of a 10" wide wheel. WHat do you guys think about this width on my wheel?

295/30/19 sounds ideal...specially with the R compound R888's. I could personally vouch for them when I had them on the E55...consistant 1.72's 60 footers...

I know they are good tires but the size is not ideal, its a bit large for the wheel and I worry about rubbing in the wheel well, which you should know about ...Im leaning towards the Pilot Cup Sport in 265/35/19, but damn 422 per tire is OUCH

Yea, 295 tires are best suited for 10.5 inch wheels. I think it would be a tad too wide.

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta has 295/30/19.... I honestly don't know much about them other that they are cheap, non-runflats and relatively new... I was going to try them next after I burn through my Pirelli's.

I believe they are 19x10 Homie.....Seems to be fine with me, only bad thing is the offset, that will be corrected soon, since I plan on selling the Monolites. I am running 285-35-19...they rub because my car is siting low. When I raise it no rubbing at all. I lowered it thru SDA

How much you selling the monolites for and what are the sizes?

295 is too wide for a 9.5 if you ask me

I'm running 19x10.5 rear wheel w/Michelin Pilot Sports 295/30 & I instantly got the dreaded wiggle/wobble on HARD throttle all the E55 211's complained about, also a half a dozen other SL600/55 owners complained about the same.

The side wall on the MP's is very soft on the 295 up sizing, others have gone w/Bridgestone RE050A 305's I just ordered a pair

ps...the 295's fit fine on 9.5 rear, I squeezed 265/35/19 on 19x8.5 frnt's

I'll go get you link of our R230 thread.. Edit: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-sl63-amg-sl65-amg-r230/251083-sl-55-feels-like-water-when-i-floor.html

295's on a 9.5 will work but its not optimal, too much sidewall overlay.

The answer is in the question. Yes, they will fit. But, not optimally. The issue here would pertain to side wall height. A 10 1/4 " rim would be the optimum fit. However, that rim width does not exist. Good luck.

Jay, this is for the CL600?

I've got 19x10 with 295/30/19 and 42 offset on the back of my CL55 and it is working out fine. This is actually a Renntech SL/CLS "fitment" (they came from juicee63's car). I also ran the 305/30/19 that juicee63 had without any problems. Rumor has it the AMG CL have there fenders rolled, don't know if that is a concern.

Renntech usually advises a 52 offset on the rear of the CL. I kept measuring until I convinced myself the 42 would work and look more to my liking.

Are you using 19x9.5 CL65 rims? I believe they have a 42 offset, so relative to my 19x10's I think this should work.

I'm also running 275/30/19 on the front with 19x9 rims and 29 offset.

This works both on the front and the back because the shorter tires tuck in when the camber changes on jounce.

Personally ... I think a 295/30 is too "narrow" for a 19x10, I'm not a fan of minimal protection for the rims from the tire overlay. If you can get 295 shoehorned on an 9.5 it would look good.

I had the wiggle/waggle with the 295/30/19 Mich ps2 on a 10inch rim. It was down right scary!!!! Now have the the new Nitto INVO 285/30/19....the wiggle disappeared and the car is just stable now...what a difference!!!!

This is what your wheel/tire will look like if you put 295's on a 9.5 inch wheel:

295 on a 9.5" rim?-img00146.jpg

It will bulge out and look silly... It'll look like you don't know how to pick the right tires for your wheels .

I had a set on my CL600 before I sold the car and still have the set of 19X9.5's with 295 Continental's mounted. Worked fine and looked great. I had no issues at all.

Looks like 15" rims on a 60 series tire. Bucket would be a compliment to that ride.

Hope the rims are helping your car ..

I also am of the opinion the MPSC will fit , they are not soft like the toyo and need to stay warm for optimal performance. They are definately not good in snow. Rain , ok still scary. I think 265 front 295 rear will work.

You could experiment by buying a used set off ebay mount em see how the work.

My sport cups worked great on the street but were a bit too hard for the drag strip although I did attain a 1.69 60ft I als ran plenty of 1.95's on em. They were too inconsistant. They also last just a few k..

Please let me know how your car feels with the cls 63 west coast's fastest rims... :-)

i know of a cls here that has 305 on a 19 9.5 rim and they work fine for him
295 on an 18 9.5 is also fine

if you want 19 10 rims that's also possible as AMG has a 5 spoke studded rim they sell, can fit 305 on them
