Looking for Adhesive Heat Shielding / Intake Ducts

Does anyone know where I would purchase the adhesive aluminized heat shielding?

Also looking for the what looks like aluminized heat tubing around the coolant lines in the picture below...

Last but not least, I'd like to replace my cruddy small plastic intake tubes with something like the ducts below...

Any ideas where to purchase this stuff?

Thanks guys!

Your worst nightmare...
I know I have seen heat shields that are the adhesive type. You could try pepboys, or R&S strauss. They carry various adhesive heat shields. In terms of the ducts...you got me there. You will have to make your own....

Have you ever been to SK Speed in Lindenhurst? Fantastic store... more oriented towards American Muscle but they have a lot of hoses, fittings, connectors, fluids, etc... They might have the heat shielding there also, got to call up.

Where did you get the red hoses you used for the panty-hose mod? Your vacuum cleaner?

Wouldn't carbon fiber be an even better choice? I believe CF disipates heat even faster than aluminum. At least on the exhaust systems on my motorcycles it does. You can come off an hour long ride and grab ahold of the CF exhaust canister, you could never do that with an aluminum or ti canister.

Try Aircraft Spruce for several types of adhesive aluminized heat shielding, as well as expandable aluminized hose sleeving material. See here: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php Do a search on "heat shield" and you'll find a number of suitable products.

Also try Summit Racing, I have used the Thermo-shield and Reflect-a-cool product(s) on several race cars and my Cobra. Not as light as the stuff from Aircraft Spruce, but cheaper. See http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku.

Good luck with your project -

Thank you for the links!

I am going to buy this: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...ermoshield.php

I just hope that it's pretty flexible... I don't want my engine bay looking like the Space Shuttle....

And this stuff is kind of pricey but might be worth it for the coolant lines: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...thermoflex.php

I have used both products, the thermoshield wrap can be pulled on while you wrap it to keep it tight and clean looking. Much easier to do with the part (hose, whatever) out of the car.

I have probably 25' of the thermoflex hose shield in my Cobra engine bay - on the plug wires, all the wiring near the headers and blower (it's a really tight fit), and on the blower oil feed and return lines. I had crispy/brittle wire insulation problems until doing this - good stuff.

Allow for up to 30% shrinkage in length when you enlarge it (like a chinese finger puzzle ) to fit over wires and the like. I use the stretchy silicone wire wrap tape to seal up the ends.
