after selling my 2003 540i 6-speed in may '08, i've spent way too much time on this forum trying to discover everything about the W211 E55 AMG.


you all are a great group. i've learned about mods to make the E55 go faster, run cooler, get lower, and look great. i've been amazed with all the factory color options (interior color selections too) and have saved a bunch of photos of E55's in various colors. some of the photos come from this forum and some from other sites - i trust you won't mind if your car pops up below.

all exterior paint codes are 3-digits... most will have a prefix "C" (C197 for obsidian black metallic with nano-particle paint process, for example)... 197 would be for an E55 produced prior to the nano-particle paint process - MBUSA reports that E55's produced January 2004 or later will have the np paint, however i've seen some 2003 cars with the "C" prefix.

i figured the thread may be helpful to those future E55 owners trying to find their favorite color. it was interesting to discover the differences between the greys (Tectite, Flint, Granite) and the blues (Platinum, Capri, Midnight)...

Techtite Grey and Fire Opal are my favorites!

I am not a fan of green but the Everest looks pretty sharp and I have never seen that color on an E55 before so it has cool factor.

I assume that is all photoshop? I also assume the real color is the pink or red because it is leaving a pink reflection on the silver car next to it. I actually like the lime green

The third picture "197 Obsidian Black metallic" is my car and it's NOT 197. It's a 040 BLACK.
