Switchable Exhaust

Just had Kleemann Stage 2 fitted to the car, and long with Evosport Cat Delete pipe, and VRP airbox, it's sounding pretty damn cool

But today I heard a CLK63 Black - now I appreciate it's a totally different beast, but I would LOVE my car to sound like that, but not all the time - it's the family cruiser too y'see

So question - is there a switchable sport exhaust, operated from the cabin (similar to the PSE on a 911?) I'm loving the ability to soften up the suspension and gear shifts when in family mode. Or is there a gadget that can be welded into the existing exhaust?

Car needs to be no louder than it is now for family driving (have got a 5 month old and a 3 year old that I enjoy sleeping on long drives) but at the press of a button, and when Daddy's alone, I want to release the sound of the hounds of hell

Any ideas?

I thought VRP had something like that...Doesn't Havoc have it on his SL?

Only thing I have heard of or seen is an electronic cut out. Install on your system then open the exhaust much further up the system. This could be installed on your ride....Lemme find a link to an E55 that has done this.

Should be a little more info in there.

Electric cutouts are your answer!! Check out the thread called "E55 cutout and 3" custom exhaust sounds" it's loud and soft by the touch of a button!

Aha! So with an electric cut out I could keep the AMG exhaust?

Fr33kn63 - that link doesn't work

Attach a turbo wastegate to operate a r8/corvette style exhaust butterfly valve(you can find them on ebay in diff sizes). Run a vacuum line to your supercharger and when it hits the psi the wastegate is rated at the butterfly valve opens, releasing more exhaust and sound. Its clean, easy, and the coolest damn resonator youll ever have .

You could also get the electric ones like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EXHAU...mZ170207842347

You could still use a boost controlled switch to keep it automatic. Like the switches used for the water/meth kits.

Would need to operate it manually when the family is aboard, but great idea

When the fam is aboard, just don't go crazy with the gas pedal and the exhaust will stay "closed".
