Finally got my wheels... Part II
A while back (June '06), I posted this thread regarding my then-new HRE 547R's with graphite metallic centers and polished lip section: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/151860-finally-got-my-wheels.html

Fast-forward two years and after some waiting for HRE to complete the refinishing job and here's what I've got now...
Matte grey centers (HRE-spec color) with Barolo Red metallic (MB-spec) inner and outer lip sections. The continuous color of the inner and outer rim sections gives the rims, especially the rears, a 'steamroller' effect when looking through the wheel. Looking at the posted images, I should note that the centers look matte grey - they look like they have a touch of yellow or gold in the photos...they do not in person. Also, the Barolo Red metallic is darker normally, but I shot the rims in direct sunlight to show the gradient difference between the curved lip which faces the sun, and the horizontal part of the lip section which is shaded...giving it a deep burgundy hue. Geez, I hope that makes sense...
I have to admit, I didn't immediately like the color combo, even though I picked it and mocked up several combos in Photoshop. However, it's grown on me, and I'm not likely to see another combo like this one anywhere in the state. Now that I've rolled on them for two months, and between the looks I get and the stance it has while parked, I'm positively nuts over the look... It does draw some attention...I get people rolling up along side asking me what kind of wheels they are, hey- those look awesome, wow - those are HREs?!?!?, etc. For me, the look has a seriously sport-oriented look, without going pure race-look (blacked out), and I was pretty tired of the polished lip - keeping it clean and, frankly, everyone's got em... Not that there's anything wrong with that!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Enjoy...

Well thats definitely different
Can't say I dislike or like but to each their own and if you are happy I commend you on stepping outside of the box.
IMHO if your faces were the same as your car (Brilliant Silver?) that might have been a good look too???

Forgot to mention the new tires...
Thanks go to Neal @ Euroteck Motorsports for the new tires, Nitto Invo's 245/35-19 in front and 285/30-19 out back. Thanks Neal! Car looks sharp with the squared-off shoulder on the rears vs. the PS2's I was running in a 275 rear spec!

Thanks everyone!
I appreciate the feedback - both positive and constructive. The look isn't for everyone, to be sure.
The Barolo Red metallic color is actually a dark red, almost burgundy metallic shade. Like the new ///M3 and the new CL63, it looks better in person than I was able to capture in images.
Roll on...
Thanks again!
