I think the E63 is a compromise between both the E55 and M5: it can hang with the E55 in the 1/4 mile (or low speed runs) yet it can also hang with the M5s up top to fairly high speeds. However, it doesn't have the edge on either. Because performance is so close, the driver ends up deciding the race.
I've done some high speed runs in a small airfield with an M6 and was able to hang till about 145 to 150 mph

anybody wanna guess what SPEED (mph) the guy in the AMG started at, what GEAR, and what RPM...He seemed right on the money, and got a quick jump...Im reallllly intrested to know...on a high way run I usually try to have my rpms up at about 4000-4500rpms before we start to race no matter what speed im at, anybody got any advice....?

If you have tight enough gearing, the higher horsepower car will always win once at peak rpm, regardless of torque, because appropriate gearing can transform torque, limited only by horsepower.

i recently raced a newer M5, not sure exactly what year but we rolled from 45 ish to 120. He actually passed me up and then slowed down to provoke a run...okay lets go! By the time I hit 100, which was pretty quick, I already had a substantial lead and upcoming traffic slowed me down. Never had a chance to give him the thumbs up because he ended up turning off. That was my only encounter ever with a M5.
