What are the specs on the HREs? They shouldn't rub at all.

I run Kinesis K29's 19x10 285/30/19 rears and no rubbing at all, and I am dropped low. You should have zero rubbing and if you do, your offsets are wrong.

wheels

285 on your comps will be perfect, dont go any bigger though, 275 will be stretched alittle. If your wheels were built for a e class as your wheels were then 285 is the perfect size

Are your rims the same as stock? I did not know you could fit 285's on a 63? I just put the same size as stock on mine 265 - damn!

I wouldn't go bigger than 255 (front) and 275 (rear) on the stock rims.

That combination will give you a larger diameter in front (26" ) and smaller at rear (25.5"). 255/40/18 look like baloons on E-class.Attached photo of SL55 wheels with 255/40/18 and 285/35/18.
For 18" wheels I like 245/40/18 F and 275/35/18 R.
In 19" I go bigger, 255/35/19 and 285/30/19.

E classes come with a larger front.

I prefer 265/35 fronts and 295/30 rears

No, but it can on AMG rims. Put your rears on the front. That makes it 265, though.
