Thumbs up "Southern Hotrod Transmission"

I recently had my transmission rebuilt by Southern Hotrod. So far i have logged about 200 miles on it with out any problems at all. It shifts awesome, under normal driving it shifts quik and positive but not harsh but when you go wide open throttle OMG it shifts very hard when it goes into second gear I see the little yellow triangle flashing

Needless to say im very pleased with the trans and the customer service

I would Just like to say thank you Eddie & Bill for a great product

$4,899.00 (same price as the Chrysler guys pay NO MB TAX...LOL)

I have redesigned the driving clutch packs and use proprietary Kevlar clutches as the stock paper clutches will not hold up to extreme high hp (actually high torque).

Redesigned one of the problematic sprags also.
The amount of welding and machining as well as valve body mods to get these to hold up and shift properly is amazing.

A dealer would take one of these High Torque Capacity NAG1's apart and just say what the Hell is this?

These are currently being used in the fastest Chrysler LX's, Jeep SRT8's.
Some of these guys are pushing 1,000 ft lbs ++ through our transmissions.

All this being stated....we find the 722.6 NAG1 as a VERY good tranny for stock and lightly modded applications.
My '97 500SL (unmodified) still runs and shifts perfectly.

It is all a function of "How much power, applied how often"?
The 1st sign of your NAG1 failing will be a slooooow 1-2 shift and then a sloooow 2-3 shift. Serious problem, go VERY easy on it from there.

I was a Daimler Mechanical Engineer fro 10 years, I DO know how the Engineers think.

Call Eddie at Southern Hotrod 504 712-5512 or myself at 704 451-6332 we are always available for you.

Oh...as you can see by the large number of Chrysler guys running our NAG1's we did test them out fully before we even considered becoming site vendors here.

Thanks you!
We sincerely appreciate it.
Go ahead and hammer the Hell out of it.
I figure the Kevlar is certainly burnished in by the 1st 50 "aggressive" miles or so.
Will you take it to MIR?

haters crazy
I got a ride in this car and was simply astonished by shift speed. If the price point wasn't so high I would get mine done in a heartbeat.

Drives Slowly
Did you upgrade the TCU also? If not, what was the purpose of the rebuild?

I dont even think thats necessary. After personally being in the car and comparing it to mine its a world of a difference. The car shifts faster and firmer plus you have the confidence of knowing it will last

No I haven't had tcu done, the reason I did the rebuild is that I'm going to be throwing some serious power at it and I didn't want to have any problems...

Thanks Ahmad!
The price is high (again...NO MB TAX) because there is so much done to these trannys.
As we have all heard so often in life....
"I would rather apologize for the price rather than apologize for the lack of equality."
To have problems by us halfa$$ing some component would be catastrophic for our companies.
These High Torque Capacity NAG1's are being shipped all over the world to customers in Australia, Saudi etc.

Anyway, I hope to get to see you guys at MIR.
