Question P265/40R18 Mickey Thompsons - will these rub?

I have the following tires mounted on 18 inch Kosei's

P265/40R18 diameter: 26.5

and it looks like the diameter is a full inch taller than my current 275-30-ZR19s. I wonder if it will rub?

Sucks the rolling diameter has increased since it's like having taller gears...not good for drag racing.

Not sure if you will rub, but your car is very low.. I doubt the taller tires will help you in the 1/4, the e55 has long gears as it is. if anything i would drop down in diameter. have you considered the bfg drag radials?

Yeah i almost got that size in this tire but opted to go with the 245-40-18s since they are almost the same as stock and wont gear up the car as much as the 265s.

taller tire for drag racing

I was also looking into use the 265/40 18 MTs ... but its even larger difference for me.

I can always raise the car for drag racing with the coilovers ...

Can someone explain the negative effects of taller tire while drag racing? If it reduces the amount of torque initially I'd say thats a benefit to me. I can't hook with the 245.

Which would you guys be willing to sacrifice, a narrower tire (245 40 18) or a slightly taller tire (265 40 18)? Specifically for drag racing.

No, these tires will NOT rub...... My friend put these tires on his stock E55 rims a couple of months back and he said they were a perfect fit on the car plus they hooked very well at the track. However, it apparently "messed" with the ECU a little and he's currently investigating the situation a little more....

You are correct Mo, these tires do not rub. I have this exact setup on my car, which is lowered and still no rubbing.

In my opinion take it for what it's worth I would rather not make my gear taller. So i run the 245-40-18 MT drag radials.. They are both going to hook when heated up 245 or 265. The 245s weigh 3 lbs less each and are 25.8 tall vs 26.5 tall for the 265s.
