Great bumping into you again Luke. I think we first met at the Benz dealer in Santa Monica when I noticed your car in the shop. It's a beauty. I've been searching for wide-body look but nothings better than OEM.
I had the same issues with my launch. My 60' were in the 2.4-2.5s but I finally got my R/T down to .5 or less. I didn't know that I should run with ESP off. I was slip-sliding everywhere. The ESP was flashing crazy and it seemed like I did'nt move for eternity after the launch. The black vette got a huge jump on me until I reeled him in the last quarter of the track.
I also learned about pre-torquing at 1500-2000rpm before launching today. I lowered my tire pressure on my last runs but it didn't help much. In fact my E/Ts were worse afterwards. Serge told me I should do it to only to the rear tires and not all 4 tires.
I got 12 runs in yesterday! In fact I got 4 hot laps just before they closed. After my last launch I heard the announcer shut the course down.
For anyone that has'nt tried this. They should! It's absolutely addicting trying to time the tree and getting a perfect reaction time. Unfortunately I was never able to get perfect traction all day. I'm definitely getting a pair of drag radials for Dec 6th (same place) and Dec 14th in AZ. Also gonna fix the vacuum leak and two failing cylinders. I never broke into 117mph trap speed as my car got heat-soaked from continuous hot laps. My 1/8 mph were all hovering in the 91-93 range so that's not bad compared to Dragtime.com data and my latest issue of Road & Track.

My background is in road racing and I've never been much of a drag racer. But, with that being said and with all the talk of 1/4 mile times around here recently; I thought I'd see what my car would run. So, I went out to California Dragway yesterday. Here are the results:
Actual - 12.766 @ 111.67 mph.
Corrected - 12.445 @ 114.624mph.
My car is bone stock less the charcoal filters. Tires are MPS on the stock wheels. I ran against my buddies E63 that is pretty modified. He has Renntech tune and some exhaust work (Eismann mufflers and X pipe, no resonators) and runs 20" HRE's. I was in the left lane, he was in the right. My reaction time is horrible - I was having a hard time getting the car staged as it was a pretty frantic environment with lots of people rushing to make passes and the guys running the tree were not very helpful. Anyway, enough with my excuses Here's the timeslip:

Now your addicted.
My car stock did 12.61@112.44 in slightly better conditions. Looks like your buddies E63 is getting whacked by the 20" wheels and or the exhaust. Hard to say , could simply be the 63 you raced was very heavy.
The 63 record @ Autoclub dragway is 12.308@113.56 on january 18th 2008 at 2:15pm.. My car still #1 at Fontana, sorry Rick..
You gotta getthat 60ft time in the low 1.8x range then work on taking off a little weight, that tune perhaps will have you taking out the record.
West Coast 63 record 12.09 ET
Best 63 trap West Coast 116.56
Famoso.
Anyway enough, just giving you some goals .
I would love to see a Western based 63 in the 11's... Itwill likely happen DEC 13th 2008

No on the other hand if a Pink Slip or money is on the table, well then reaction time is everything!!!!

IN reality your reaction time has nothing to do with your ET or your trap. In fact I suggest that if you are after a good ET and trap, you should ignore the tree, and let the guy next to you go off into the distance. Now that you are all calm and not hyped up, now you should focus on a great roll onto the throttle and as the weight of the car settles in the rear, only then should you mash the throttle. The timers only trip once you roll across the line. Focus on getting great 60ft times - the ET's and traps will follow.

Luke I would much rather lose a race and trap higher by 3-4 mph- you can always work on your launch but the power is harder to come by IMHO.

Thanks man - Very informative as I have actually been wondering what the best 63 times have been to date. I think with a bit more seat time and some decent mods I'll be much faster. But again, I'm more of a road racer so the 1/4 mile times don't mean as much to me - just braggin right I guess. Thanks agian for the info, Juicee.

That is not only the Black Series record, but I believe it's the record for ANY 63 so far... But I'm not sure about the trap. I believe the ASR-Engineering NOS CLS63 trapped a little higher.

I have officially trapped at 123.64mph (on spray), Josh/Juicee has a copy of that time slip, but un-officially I have trapped at over 126 (on spray). My previous posted 11.47 @ 121.40 e/t and trap were motor only.
