1989 Toyota Tercel EZ - dyno'd @ 70whp/77wtq
I may be ignorant and stupid... I'm not a tune expert whatsoever... so I apologize beforehand.

But don't you think the torque is a bit low relative to HP (482.1 rwtq & 478.5 rwhp)?

After looking a bunch of dyno's including mines, max rwtq = max rwhp + ~40-60.

Your previous dyno shows 360-380whp & 400-430wtq, which holds my equation above to be true.

FYI, my stock dyno on dynojet shows 407-427whp & 450-470wtq.

For that whp (478.5), I would expect to see 510-540wtq, which IMO is very good for stage 1.

good point..

I have been noticing bigger TQ numbers lately on other cars similar to my set up.

It all depends on the dyno machine used.. but I did hit 500RWTQ on other pulls.

I contacted LET recently to see if I they are using a different flash tune, but I was told its basically the same.

I'm not 100% sure if my tune has removed the torque limiter.. but I have no complaints.

What exactly are you referring to when you say "clutch engagement"?

Congrats on your performance gains!

guys this thread is from last year.

I was one of the first to get the LET tune in the West coast (OBD2 flash). I was Brandon's first E55 and customer with the laptop unit.

the only reasons I waited were.

paid less half for my tune compared to Pwr Chip
it was done on the spot by my friend brandon
trust Jerry and wayne..

I was told by my service manager @ MB that any mods would invalidate my warranty. I'd really like to get a pulley, or at least a tune, but I don't want to lose the warranty. Is that even possible?

As far as I know...

mods will ONLY void your warranty IF AND ONLY IF the dealer can prove that the mod was the reason a certain part failed.

I drove north about 100 miles to Camarillo to meet up with Brandon (Code3) and in partnership with Jerry & Wayne (LET).

Jerry was our tuner via the internet.

I paid a few baseline pulls and the numbers were really bad. I can't really go into what type of machine this is, or the technical data. All I can say before and after was EYE Popping dramatic difference.

Using DynoJet numbers, my initial base runs were 360-380 RWHP and 400 to 430RWTQ. These base runs were taken once in June and Today.

Weather was a warm low 80's.

The car was placed in Dyno mode and the operator maintain the car from up shifting manually.. he would ease in and let it rip and back down again. Therefore you notice the dips on the graph.

BTW: We flash while the car was strapped on.. no time was given to adapt!!!!

The numbers speak a thousand words.

Took Brandon for a drive.. and car just pulls effortlessly on the top end.. which was my #1 goal. I drove back with a huge grin and coasted 70mph the whole way.. (wife and my 3yr old) with me. No need to put anybody in harms way.

I have much more to provide in terms of feel, throttle response, shifts, clutch engagement and engine noise.. which all are greats reviews. But those I can chime in later.

Thanks To Brandon for the helping me with the flash.
Jerry for providing the awesome file!!!

LET and Code3 is here for the WEST coast.
so you made 482 hp at the wheels after the tune ?

It they are telling you this find another dealership that's mod friendly. I have a few mods and it's never been a problem getting things fixed under warranty. The best advice I could give is go to your local MB dealership and ask to speak to the foreman and try to develop a relationship. After that ask who his preferred SA is. This worked great for me and I found out that the foreman/master tech and I have a lot in common.

Stay away from the ones that frown on it from the get go. Once your car gets flagged it's game over.

Hope this helps and good luck!

As stated by the prior post, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A RELATIONSHIP with your service manager before you do these types of things IF warranty is a concern. At least get a fair and objective place that neither cheats MB nor you.

Last thing, I would strongly reconsider just a tune.
